Going to replace my wheel hub assemblies this weekend- my Yukon is making a horrendous noise while driving due to the bearings being really bad-

Got a pair of hub assemblies from Ebay yesterday- 110$ (pretty good price compared to autozoo)

I’m going to pick up all the additional tools in which I will need: need some verification that my list is correct:

T55 socket -brake calipers bolt
36mm socket-CV axle nut

Will I need to get a ball joint separator tool?

Misc specs needed:
What are the torque specs to re tighten the bolts afterward?

Feedback is appreciated

To answer your question about the ball joint separator tool you should NOT need to touch your ball joints to replace your hub so no worries :waytogo:

What brand hub assembly did you end up getting?

I've not heard of that brand. I hope they work out for you! They are definitely well priced and at least worth the shot :waytogo:

In order to replace the hub you should only have to removed the wheel, brake caliper and rotor to gain access to the hub so no removal of ball joint is required. It's a fairly straight forward job. Get a BFH (big friggin hammer) ready, though, as you may need it to break the hub assembly lose once you have the bolts out :)

I hope they last me for a few years- the previous owner(s) did not perform any maintenance on it... so now i have to replace all the worn parts out- which in return, will make it a more reliable truck- and thanks to the members on this site ( like 07Burb ), it has made it easier to get it done :worship:

Get a BFH (big friggin hammer) haha in deed

That’s good to know- I was a bit concerned about them, but I figured I would take the risk and test it out. If they did fail I wouldn’t mind replacing them again, as long as its not within the first year.. then I would be mad.. lol

I would do the ball joints, but it’s too late for them to get here in time-I like to save money by buying items on ebay & amazon- so I’m going to prioritize the hubs first- I don’t want to get stranded if the wheels lock up you know what I mean

I plan to order the upper/lower ball joints next week along with a replacement set of the idler arm & pitman

I’ll let you guys know how it goes once im done-

its best to break the axle nut loose with the truck still on the ground. you also have to remove the caliper bracket.

the caliper slide bolts should be a big torx head bolt and then the caliper bracket bolts are 18mm.
