Where can I pick up some permanent 12V ?

I need to run a wire to power up my new Radio unit. The GMOS-04 box has failled providing permanent 12V.
I was thinking of using those items :

Which circuit would be the most appropriate to plug this into ?

What if I run a wire from the pink box (Permanent positive) that sit under the hood, next to the alternator?

running a positive lead straight of the alternator to power a head unit would be unwise

always get popwer from the battery if you hook up a head unit straight off the alternator youd prolly get a bad alternator wine or the ripple voltage coming from the alternator could damage the radio

I need your advices.

I just checked the underhood fusebox. I have plenty of empty fuse slots. With the tester I read 12V.

For exemple,

Lower part, right after the relays, I have nothing above CRANK or A/C COMP.


This is a picture from a Silverado 2005 I guess.

The empty slots I have on mine here are tagged TCMB et RVC.

What does it mean ?

If it's strong enough (I need 10A), i could wire from there to my Access GMOS-04 who doesn't deliver permanent 12V.

There are 2 heavy gauge red wires in the ignition system harness coming from the column to the underdash. Just remove the underdash panel below the steering wheel and you'll see the harness. either of these can be tapped into to provide constant 12v. saves running a wire to the battery. A good online resource for any stereo/alarm work that you need vehicle wiring for is, www.the12volt.com look for the vehicle wiring tab at the top and find yours.

If I recall, the gmos4 doesn't provide a constant hot, that comes from the harness. It only provides an accessory hot. Which would mean some thing is wrong with your radio harness. I assume you have checked all of your fuses? And if they are good you should have constant 12v coming to the radio module, and can just tap powe from that.
