Decided I want an OBDII tool to work on my 99 Tahoe. Start a google search and there are just too many damned options out there, from cheap to crazy expensive, some are hand held, some interface with your laptop, etc, etc.

What are most people using?

What's the best bang for the buck?

Any to avoid?

I'm running the cheap ($60) blue one from Schucks/O'Reilly's. If I need to do cam retard, I'll take it to a shop.

I use a cheap one by toptak,TP-180CAN. I read a review of it on line and it was given a better than okay rating for the buck, about $70. I'm no pro but,it will read/erase codes. Retrieve freeze frame data/live data, reads all OBD protocols, and will turn off the CEL. It at least points me in the right direction. I did like the autotap laptop one also, I may upgrade to that one someday.
