What i have been wondering is according to various car review websites the OBS 4 door Tahoe weighs in at 5225 lbs and a NBS 4dr Tahoe weighs in at 5050lbs and only 30hp more than the OBS.
An online 1/4 mile calc i tired rates the NBS Tahoe at 16.00 and the OBS Tahoe at 16.8

OBS Tahoe Specs

NBS Tahoe Specs
http://www.vehix.com/car-reviews/2001/chevrolet/tahoe/4dr-4wd-lt/vehicle-specifications

Thats not really what i would call a "smoking"??

I have never seen anyone or any video online of a stock OBS vs stock NBS Tahoe race?

.8 seconds is quite a few car lengths... To run that much faster is significant to say the least.

Did the OBS have tq management also? If not that could be part of the problem? Maby there is a different in gear ratios also. All I know is they are nearly at the exact miles, both in well maintence and that 97 would leave the 01 sitting. I may have to get a camara and have a grudge race to see just how bad.

Nope....Torque management was NOT on the OBS rigs and that does significantly affect the performance of the 5.3. I'm not sure when that exactly started coming into the picture but it definitely makes a huge difference AGAINST the 5.3 or any of the GM motors that haven't had a tune put on them to take this off.

I just did a little research and they say TM started in 96 but didn't become very restrictive until 99+ on the new body styles. Now I'm curious about the whole thing and want to know the truth! When did it start and how much of any TM did the OBS have in its last years? Back to researching, I guess.

Really? They musta really amped up the TM in the newer rides then. Was the TM a standard setup starting in 96??

sorry but when i think of getting smoked by a car i think of, say a 2000 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am (WS6) 4.9 0-60 & 13.4 1/4 mile and a 1983 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am 9.2 0-60 & 17.0 1/4 mile.
thats what i think of when i hear of smoking another car

Well, of course, that is even more significant. No one here expects a stock SUV to run 13s though.

I'm not finding any answers that seem definitive. It's mostly just what a couple guys on other forums are saying. I'm surprised no one has said more about it.
