if they are both 2wd 1500's its the 4l60 and yes its interchangable. the 2wd 4l60/65/70 are all the same case and extension housing. i have had 4 of them out of different platforms in my wifes GTO. all the same. the one we took to have built was out of an 03 sierra 4door, the one i turned in for a core was out of a 04 van and the one thats currently in there is rebuilt from GM. all the same all the way across.
2wd vs 4wd is different. different output shaft and extension housing
1500 vs 2500 is different. 4l60 vs 4l80 (larger case different pinout on the plug)
Nooooooooo!!!! There is a change in 2004. Yes, 4l60E, but the website is correct. There are whole slew of changes in 2004 that does not meet the eye. You have to do a VIN check, but I wanted to move my new Tranny from 2000 to my 2004. Should have been a piece of cake. Worked on a 2003, not the 2004.if they are both 2wd 1500's its the 4l60 and yes its interchangable. the 2wd 4l60/65/70 are all the same case and extension housing. i have had 4 of them out of different platforms in my wifes GTO. all the same. the one we took to have built was out of an 03 sierra 4door, the one i turned in for a core was out of a 04 van and the one thats currently in there is rebuilt from GM. all the same all the way across.
