It's the converter and gears. Swapped 3.73 to 4.56 with 275/65r20 and can burn that rubber all day if I desire. That's with a slightly touched motor.

yup i totally agree when ever someone asks "what should i do to my vehicle " to make it faster to tow better or whatever i always tell em gears gears gears
gears is what makes the world go round

Been away too long.. Thanks for all the further input. Gears have definitely worked their way up on the to-do list. Are 4.56 necessary if 33s will probably be the max, slight possibility of 35s a ways into the future? Appreciate it everyone!

I just installed 4.56 gears in my Tahoe yesterday I'm also running 33" tires. One day in truck gets off the line with so much less effort and trans seems to be running cooler also.I would agree that doing burnout switch all terrain tires on a 5500 lbs truck on dry pavement = bad news.i agree with ccapehartusarmyinf gears gears gears

70MPH IS 2000 RPM which imo puts it more in the power band so I can drive it with my vacuum gauge and get the same or even a little better mileage.was definitely a good upgrade my trans is running more normal temps also.
