Hello everyone, I'll tell you a little background. I have a 2022 Yukon with a 6.2-liter engine that I drive very fast, it's normal for me to drive on the highway at 100-110 miles per hour for several hours in a row, or ride with a boat or jet ski on a trailer at 90-95 miles per hour. My oil is 0-20, I change it every 7,500 miles. The total mileage at the time of the last oil change was 75 thousand miles. Every oil change in the service, they cut the oil filter for me to look for chips or metal.
Well, now the story itself. My family and I were going to go to the city of Saratov, which is about 1000 km from Moscow, of which 500 km runs along the expressway, and 500 more on intercity roads.about 1,500 km before the departure, I changed the oil again, and cut the filter, everything was in perfect condition, no chips or metal particles. In general, we drove off, going out on the highway, I turned on the cruise at a speed of 150 km/h, which is about 95 mph, as I have done more than once.
Nothing foreshadowed trouble. The M12 is an awesome highway, we almost reached the city of Arzamas in one go.Suddenly, for no reason, the car, going on a cruise of 150 kmh, began to shift gears down, increasing the speed, first to 3000, then it became 3500, then 4000, and then 4500 rpm, I press the cruise reset button, and the car abruptly switches to N automatic transmission, and it goes out, the interior is dark, the lights are out, the appliance is out. I turn on the emergency light and roll to the curb, as soon as the car stops, it immediately goes into the Parking Lot, and does not move. I'm trying to start it, the engine is spinning a little and there's nothing else.I thought the battery was dead because the car showed the only error was a low battery charge.I understand that there are no options, we need to return to Moscow, and I started calling a tow truck. And since I also have a trailer, I have two tow trucks. In an hour and a half, tow trucks arrive from Arzamas.
And we start loading the cars. And here comes the first problem. The car is in the parking lot, the rear wheels are locked (it's good that I'm driving in the back)Therefore, the guys put metal rollers under the wheels, and dragged the car with the rear wheels locked.

Also, when I first stopped, I immediately took out the oil dipstick to check the oil level. I thought the oil might have run out, although I checked it just before the trip. The oil dipstick was so hot that it left a burn on my finger, I know what kind of oil is hot when driving on the highway, but here it was like from a deep fryer, according to my feelings about 180-200C.

All this is literally done by centimeter and constantly leveling the car, which is very large for a tow truck. But we put it on a tow truck.Everything is easier with the trailer, it was quickly put on the body. While driving, I called the service where my Yukon is serviced. The master's office was already waiting for us.
There, the car was immediately taken to the box and removed from the tow truck by a lift. Because the wheels are locked. This is another GM joke in the 5th generation.

While they were doing the diagnostics, they showed me how to unlock the automatic transmission. This is important, I advise everyone to take a screenshot and save it to favorites. It is necessary to perform the following actions.Turn on the ignition.Remove the handbrake with the buttonRemove the battery terminal. After that, get under the car on the left. And find the automatic transmission.Find the bolt in this place, and turn it counterclockwise with a wrench. And lock the key in this position with a clamp. All. automatic transmission in neutral mode. This is very important, otherwise it is almost impossible to drag a car to a tow truck.

Next, we decided to unscrew the oil filter... and that's where everything fell into place. There's everything here, dust, shavings, and bits of metal. After the last one, 2000 km has passed, while the filter is cut on each one, there was nothing there. What I can say is that the 0-20 oil was fresh, because of the traffic on the highway there could not be gasoline in it. I was driving in Trailer mode, so the DFM was off, the RPM was 2700, and the oil pressure was high. If these were connecting rod liners, they would have died sooner, not after 75,000 miles. And yes, my engine was one of the longest-lived in the network of services that serve GM, there is another Escalade with a mileage of 170 thousand km, the operating mode is the same, fast active driving and 0-20 oil.

It was all yesterday, and today they sent me a photo of my disassembled engine. There was a war and a nuclear bomb explosion inside. The oil burned out, there was no point in analyzing it. there will be metal and fumes in it. The connecting rods are black, the connecting rod liners are turned, the scuff marks inside the crankshaft and cylinders, inside pieces of metal and scale from high temperature.

By the way, the inserts are the same. German ones, but they didn't go 1-10-20 thousand miles for me like everyone else, but 75,000 miles.

And another photo. To the question, did oil 0-40 help in this situation? definitely not, it feels like the oil stopped being supplied at all at some point, and 0-50 wouldn't have helped there. The reason, as always, is unclear. Because there were no errors, neither P00016 nor any other, there was no low oil pressure, there was no overheating of the engine, even the automatic transmission oil was normal. there wasn't even any rumbling or noise. Everything happened instantly, literally in seconds.

Suddenly, for no reason, the car, going on a cruise of 150 kmh, began to shift gears down, increasing the speed, first to 3000, then it became 3500, then 4000, and then 4500 rpm

Wow, this is interesting... I wonder if this is the transmission just downshifting automatically to safely come down in speed (by exercising 'engine brake') or if it is the problem that is accidentally causing the engine to go past redline.

Whatever the transmission is doing, it is not helping the engine..... if the engine was having trouble to begin with the transmission shouldn't be making the engine go up in RPM !!!!!

I am actually drawing a blank as I don't know what should happen, but if I am not mistaken on an old 3 or 4 or 6 speed automatic transmission, if the engine power is killed, the transmission would just coast down and stop in whatever gear it is in but shouldn't cause engine RPM to increase !!... but maybe I'm wrong...( on a manual transmission the operator can obviously control it precisely)
