It may just have needed to reset itself. There's an actual computer module behind the rear passenger side panel called the Suspension Control Module and it goes through a system check and calibration every time you start the engine. When you changed the compressor it may have sensed something changed but never was able to calibre the system. Sounds like you're good to go.
I was for about an hour again. Back to the service error. Put three big guys on the back, should have set the system off, didn't, but brought the error back.

You might be better off to go pay a shop to get the error codes from the suspension control module. I had a shop read mine and they didn't even charge me but I'd expect a minimum shop charge. It told me that the right rear shock had a problem with the electronic damping, which was actually a problem with an Arnott aftermarket shock; they come with resistor packs to fool the system into thinking the shock has electronic damping when it actually doesn't. It was under warranty, and they sent me a replacement. I would have been chasing my tail forever on that. I sure can't diagnose your system over the internet , I've offered about all the help I can. Like I've said many times here, this system is more complicated than people think.

Obviously this looks like this would be causing a problem. Tried to put it back together but it won't stay. Ordered a new one. Guess we will see.

Aha, a ride height sensor. That was the first thing I suggested, but after going back and re-reading my post I see I called it a ride control sensor. Those are what tells the system that the shocks need air. That will definitely cause the message to appear.

You think super glue will fix this, lol? New on arrives Tuesday, will the system reset it self or still off to get codes done. Found a shop who has the right snap-on for the codes, not sure about the rest. Hoping you put it in and it is happy.

Again, appreciate your help. Went around and looked at all for. I guess this would explain why the car was not moving, the others seem ok, but this one is factory. Original part number.

Anyways to tell if shocks are factory? Probably not. They are Delphi part #'s. Probably are. Think I will replace the bushings to urethane while I have this apart. Always makes the truck better.

It should reset itself and work fine. I've had mine off before and just reattach them and it's fine. I would remove one of the air hoses at a shock before you replace the ride height sensor so when you start it up afterwards it will be starting at the same height both sides. Reattach the air hose after replacing the sensor. Shocks are probably stock.

So just got me a '05 Denali XL. It has a Z55 suspension, and the pump would run on start up for two minutes easy a lot. I never got any messages. So ordered a new pump, threw it in, and great, runs for 6 seconds and stops. Next day after driving all day I get "Service Ride Control"

I have seen this show up before you replace it but not after you put a new compressor in. This is a Dornan, new, not rebuilt. When I pull codes, there are not any.

What's the scoop?

Well, the reason the pump was running as long as it was is because the bladders on the shocks are done. They are rubber and they leak. They are only good for 5 years or so, less in dusty environs. I have replaced my shocks myself, it is pretty easy. If you do, you have to be sure that you don't unplug the ABS plugs. Nature of removal...

Unplug your pump until you replace the shocks. You will burn it out. Be mindful that most of the tubing for the truck uses metal clips to secure them to the pump; but on the pass side shock they have a plastic clip to secure it to the shock; and it WILL break when you remove it.

The air ride is nice...but...when you replace the front shocks they are $400. Each.

@stgolling did you read the thread? His shocks aren't leaking air, he has a broken ride height sensor. As far as the clips on your air hoses- one of your air lines has probably been replaced with a Dorman or other aftermarket brand. Mine are all metal. And if you go with standard shocks you also need to replace the springs with ones for a Z71 suspension since the air shocks contribute to the stiffness of the rear suspension and if you just put standard shocks in, your truck will feel like mush in the ass end.
