    Hawk LTS pads eat rotors

Were you using cryo treated rotors? That may help longevity with the more aggressive pad compounds.

    22 Tire selection

OE Spec, didn't know that. I'm sure that means compromises galore, so I'll lean the other way. Don't need to worry about snow here anyways, unless I feel like heading up to Lake Tahoe.

    22 Tire selection

Anyone tried the goodyear fortera that can comparea with Nitto? I need new tires by the end of the month and keep coming back to the goodyears, though I'm hesitant because they may not be as performance oriented as I would like, being they have an H speed rating.

    no chrome grille!!!

I've heard that if you dip the part in brake fluid, it should take the chrome off. I haven't tried this method myself, so you might want to google it a bit first.

    Weird 3rd row question

I've thought about that myself, but never actually bothered to check into it. Would the rear hatch even lift high enough to not obstruct the view?

    Door Sills

My '10 LTZ has the aluminum inserts front, rear and back like pictured above (except the "Denali" script, obviously.) The fronts say "Chevrolet," the rears and IIRC cargo area have the lines continued through where the "Denali" text is on the pics posted above.

You could probably get a bowtie in there, but that's about it. Maybe an "SS," if that were an option.

How do I tell what Gear ratio I have???

They're probably under-engineered like several other things GM does. Barely able to withstand stock power/torque thresholds, but once you make some mods and put the power down, they are no longer adequately designed. Bean Counters win that one....

How do I tell what Gear ratio I have???

How prevalent is that really though, in normal use? I've seen them wear out and just stop working (one tire fire,) but not blow up too often. Obviously, if you're off-roading with it there are better options. I'm thinking factory use is more for boat ramps and muddy roads, not rock crawling...

    '08 z-71 Package

Yeah, that's the thing. I offered a deposit in good faith, but the sales manager wouldn't do it. The salesman was fine, I would work with him again anytime, but the manager gave off a real weasely vibe so I don't think I'll be back there. No rush to get one, so I'm going to take a little...

    3.42s to 4.10s....pros and cons

Depends on your highway driving, really. The Tahoe I just test drove was an '08 with the 3.73's and felt adequate around town and sat at 2k rpms at 70mph. Not sure how much the 4.10s would change that, but there's some 3.73 info that may be helpful to you. If I had a ton of highway driving to...

How do I tell what Gear ratio I have???

I don't know who manufactures the posi for GM nowadays, probably still Auburn, but you would rather not have posi? I'll grant you there are better aftermarket options, depending on your use, but I'd still rather have it than not.

How do I tell what Gear ratio I have???

I think it depends on what transmission you have (haven't seen the 4.10s or 3.73s on the six speed,) but if you have 4.10s it shouldn't be a dog off the line. Check the SPID label in the glove box: GT4= 3.73 GT5= 4.10 GU4= 3.08 (these are the dogs, IMO) GU5= 3.23 GU6= 3.42 G80=...

    '08 z-71 Package

Stuff happens, it's their job to sell cars. I'm just tired of my wife's job always screwing up my stuff- I don't work there. The salesman was supposed to pull it off the line so we could finish negotiating later, but the manager sold it; maybe I'll go get the one with the 6.2L I found, just...

    '08 z-71 Package

Yikes. Note to self: Don't put 22s on until after the drop kit. It's all really a moot point now anyways guys. My wife is an Rn and got called in to work for an emergency and they sold the car to someone else during that time. Needless to say, I won't be doing business with them anytime...

    '08 z-71 Package

Thanks. The 2wd tahoes are a rare bird around here, so probably would end up with 4wd regardless. Wouldn't need it often, but do make the occassional trips up to Lake Tahoe. I wasn't too sure about the differences in suspension, but it doesn't appear to be anything major, so I'll probably go...

    '08 z-71 Package

I found a good deal on an '08 with the z-71 package. I'm really not interested in the off road look, I'd rather put a mild drop and some 22s on the ride, but I'm really not sure exactly what the z-71 package includes. Does someone care to enlighten me and tell me whether it would be practical...

    Wood Steering Wheel

That's why he needs to get the FSM so he can follow the procedure to properly disconnect the bag. I wouldn't just screw around with it willy-nilly either, but there is a procedure for their removal for a reason.

    Wood Steering Wheel

Yes, you remove the nut, but the whell is pressed on, so the wheel remover is like a pulley remover, it provides the leverage you need to pull the wheel off. The hardware attaching the airbag is behind the wheel, so no tools in the way- the airbag will just hit you square in the face if you...

    Wood Steering Wheel

You can "borrow" the tool to remove the steering wheel from autozone. The important thing is to follow the proper procedure for the airbag removal. I don't have an FSM for this vehicle, but I would beg, borrow, or steal the section pertaining to that- it's not as simple as "disconnect the...

    Model Year Differences?

Yeah... that's not going to happen; that's why I was asking how to visually spot the difference, though I don't think anyone ever answered that. I think the e-fans really are a no-brainer, so '05 and up only for me at this point. Thanks for all the replies.
