5100s are awesome. Ride is great and controlled. They have digressive valving--they are stiffer at first then get milder with more movement. Hard to describe, but for me it is perfect. I have had many compliments on the ride quality.
The front drop on these seems to be a moving target. I was after a 1" drop and got 1-1/4" with strut cups and provided spacers! For me it went too far the other way.
It seems because the front suspension is the same for SUVs, trucks, and previous models the parts become "about a xx drop".
I...
You may want to talk to the dealer--if it is a known problem they may replace it for you? Just sweet talk them and remind them you are an important customer...
Check the rear parking brake cables. Believe it or not they can squeak when the rear suspension moves up and down. There is a post on spraying some lube on them to help.
Did your vehicle sit awhile before you bought it? Battery could have died then--once they are pretty discharged, they don't come back the same. How is the dealer testing? Do they put it under load?
Also, squeaky rear suspension is probably the parking brake cables--another victim of sitting...
I know it was on two packages:
Z71 - can be seen by emblems on outside.
Max Tow - have to look at the options on glovebox door or look for air shocks underneath. But I'm not sure air shocks would be a sure thing as I think LTZs had them as well.
Here's mine currently:
-McGauhy's 2" rear with upper isolators removed and 5/8" heater hose both ends=2-1/8" drop = 35-3/8"
-McGaughy's 2" front spring seats (which are closer to 2-1/2") on Bilstein 5100s on the third groove = 1-1/4" drop = 34-3/4"
The rear autoride rods just pop off, but they can be a PITA. You have to be somewhat careful, and you think they will bust, but then "pop" and they are off... I think I isd a needle-nose pliers and regulat slip-joint pliers prying against each other...
Two words:
Chemical Guys...
I used many others, Meguiars, Mothers, Griots, etc... So far Chemical Guys produces the best results with the least effort.
Most importantly--have fun!
I wish I knew. The grooves on the strut for the c-clips are about 0.4" apart. I measured them. I calculated every which way and still ended up off. But surprisingly it seems to be fairly close to a 1:1 ratio. I.e. 0.4" worth of clip height equals 0.4" of lift height--about.
