    Battery life is what?

I ran a towing company for a few years and found 3-5 is the average for most batteries, depending on usage of course. I have gotten as much as 7 from an OEM and as little as 14months from a "Optima". I have 2 Blue tops in my boat. Just finished the 7th season with them, and no concerns. My...

what gears to use for my 99 Tahoe

Thanks Sunlit and Bowtie. You guys know of any links to a instructional on doing this. I am very handy, have plenty of tools and even did a new carrier/spider-gear install years ago on a ford. But is there anything crazy when it comes to this install?

what gears to use for my 99 Tahoe

I have been debating this swap for a while. Now that I found a leak in my rear Diff, I am seriously considering it. I currently have 3.42's and would like to jump to 4.10's. Anyone have any suggestions or links to quality brand's? I'm rather clueless on these parts. Thanks

    DREAM setups post em

Mine is my current hoe with some new tires and rims. Then adding a 2nd 2wd hoe lowered 2/4. 20" rims with 285/50/20's. 4l80e built to handle a blown 502. Street sleeper mostly with bumper changes and debadged. Tint and a modest stereo. Main focus is performance. One for play, one for utility. I...

Cool new Diag Tool for iPad and iPhone Owners

Just passing this along. http://gopointtech.com/ Doesn't look to dissimilar to some of the other products out there. At $99 smackers, not a bad deal. Although I don't think I would be leaving an iPhone or iPad in my car for any extended period of time.

Royalty In The Shade of Purple

Mobil 1 syn for me too. Switched it over in my hoe at 63k, currently at 136k with no issues. The oil actually comes out very clean even after 5k miles with changes. On a related note, I switched my boat over after the 10hr breakin period to mobil1 syn. The oil in the boat comes out really clean...

    tahoe recall items?

So what is the re-course on these. Would you have to have the problem first, or could you contact the dealer and discuss getting some of these done? Just curious so I thought I would ask.

Is anyone else here able to chirp spin out tires?

On dry pavement....nothing. She hooks up instantly in a straight. Any corner...one wheel peel is easy. Wet pavement, I have to drive carefully or she will spin wheels everywhere. Even moving under 40mph, I can light them up on wet pavement. Forget dirt or gravel roads, spin the there for fun! I...

Got my Spectre CAI installed today!

Navahoe, that's been a pretty common suggestion from those that have done it. I might try it myself, but it's low on the list. Update on my Spectre... So far everything is great. No issues or code to report and I have done a ton of miles since the install. One major note. Towing my boat...

    Pics of 285's?

There are a ton of threads on this, so you might try a search first to see why you find. When you do find a pic of a stance that you like, then you can reference that to get more info. The thing about the larger tire sizes is the they look different depending only vehicle stance, flares, lift...

    Got the Ultra-Gauge

I purchased one of these the same day that gpracer1 posted the link. The $ was the deciding factor and wouldn't hurt my wallet to bad. So far I really like it. It was simple to install and setup. I haven't spent to much time customizing it yet because I really wanted to get a feel for the...

    Color Matched C-Pillar

This was my 1st attempt at color-matching the C-Pillar on my 2dr. This was a total beoch. Apperently the c-pillars were clearcoated. My initial scuffing and then paint produced fish-scale. 2nd try produced less scale, but similar results. The 3rd sanding I went deep and it worked. Except for the...

    Throw in the Towel?

2dr or 4dr? That would be my question. If it's a 4dr then it's an easy decision to jsut get another. 2dr and you could have a hard time finding a good one with lower miles. Post some pics.

    Burban needs a heart transplant

You mentioned DD and road trip vehicle. From that alone I would think a 350 or 383 Crate motor would be the easiest routes, and a lot can be done without killing the wallet initially, at the pump and down the line. Easy to work on both and parts avail everywhere. I'm coming from the thinking...
