100,000 Mile Transmission Flush and Service Questions
Trans Fluid Change. I had one flush in my life on a car 15 years ago, it cost me the tranny not too long after that. What I do now is change out the trans pan with a drain plug pan and change the pan fluid every other oil change. Right at 5qts came out of the deep pan on my 02 Trailblazer...- Wake

From what I gathered during reading about the options it seems to me that aftermarket keys don't apply more tension on the bars to raise the truck but instead change the orientation of the bars to raise the truck. It makes sense to me as explained that it doesn't hurt the suspension feel like...- Wake

Sloppy/Loose Steering Fixed!
No pics but you can't miss it. Look straight down the front of your engine where the steering shaft meets the box. One bolt on top with the hex head and the nut itself on that bolt. -
transmission service?
I believe on my old Trailblazer with the deep pan (same trans) was right at 5qts. You only got 2.5qts to drain out of the pan?- Wake

dealer service question
I'd get the brake system flushed, 11 years on the original fluid probably means it's full of moisture, not good for the ABS system. As others have mentioned the coolant should be changed as well.- Wake

I don't understand that with Chrysler products. I looked at an HO V8 Grand Cherokee before buying my first SUV, the V6 - V8 move wasn't that big of an economy difference, I was quite surprised at how low the V8 numbers were though.- Wake

What is differences in Z71?
If I remember correctly the Z71 package also comes with the G80 locking rear end as standard equipment. It could also be ordered separately with a non Z-71.- Wake

Exhaust Fail
I just put on a new Magnaflow system yesterday, like you I broke BOTH bolts off. I also had to cut the strap clamp off the other side to get that free. I get scared anytime I mess around with exhaust or exhaust manifold bolts on an older vehicle. You might be able to press the old bolts... -

Lower thermostats, really needed?
Good info. One other observation I've had over the years on older ODB controlled vehicles is that a cooler fan setting along with the stock thermostat keeps temps nice and steady. I've always used the 180F thermostat but used a programmer to turn the cooling fans on at 172F. The fans turn...- Wake
