DPF is covered under 8/80 emissions warranty, plus mine gets a good drive every week or so. This isn't the DPF's of old....
Closer to the engine lets them burn hotter and cleaner and get to temp much more quickly...
And of course, after I'm a month out of 3/36, the "Service restraint system" comes back again. I would thing that since this is a safety thing it would be covered longer? Like an emissions warranty?
I don't even know why someone would post this video? It isn't pertinent to the real world most owners live in. This engine was over stressed or got a drink of gasoline or something of that nature....
Just another "Clip" to downplay what is the most dependable engine available in these vehicles.
As long as the engine is covered for a while under the powertrain warranty, I wouldn't like... say, trade it next week, but if it's doing that and or getting worse you know something is imminently coming.
I personally would not keep any vehicle that "eats" oil... Not a one I've had in 20+...
I looked at an escalade before I bought my Denali, but I just couldn't justify the cost. Hey, I still want an escalade. But I probably won't ever own one. This is why it's super critical that the one choice you make is the one you're willing to stick with. I'm not willing to take a bath on a...
If it's a vehicle that I want to keep for say 5 plus years, I would look for one in the 30 to 50K range mileage Wise. If it's one that won't get driven much at all say less than 10,000 miles a year you probably could stretch that up to 70K. It really just depends on what the condition of the...
Since I have a diesel, I am somewhat of a disinterested 3rd party, but as a general question are the 5.3 engines exhibiting any all or some of the same issues lifters or thrust bearings, of the 6.2? If you were buying one today, and you had a choice, would you take a 5.3 over a 6.2? Or is there...
The best way to solve this problem the quickest and easiest is to go to Sam's club and buy the best AGM they have and have them install it. They do all the work you're out of there in 30 to 45 minutes and you have as good a warranty as any on the market. It isn't worth sweating and hassling over...
I've never done anything but hand tightened plus 1/2 a turn on oil filters my entire life. Never had a leak never had a problem. Same with drain plugs. Finger snug, then maybe one more turn. How hard is it? I don't break out a torque wrench unless I'm working on lug nuts.
Not to mention those stock tires are the junkiest tires available. They should be gotten rid of at the first moment. Tell the dealer that you want these tires replaced or you won't buy it. It's the first thing you'll do if you do buy it.
What you are going to find is the price spread between a good used one with low miles and a brand new one is not very far. You really need to analyze what you can afford, because for another 5 to 8 K you can be in a new one in a lot of cases. It's amazing what people think these are worth 3 and...
I replaced my plug upon my first oil change with a Fumoto type valve. It is tucked away and cannot be damaged by road debris. Eliminates fighting with issues like this and has worked flawlessly through at least 4 oil changes. Pipes the oil right into my container that I take to recycling.
Well, if your write up was correct and included the correct amount of oil and a new filter, it's more than likely that it got changed. Not abnormal for these places to forget to reset the oil minder. Take a quick look underneath and see if it's a brand-new oil filter. If it is, there's no way...
I've had mine flashed the red lights at me, but I've never had it jab those brakes. Makes sense? Something turned off? My last vehicle would flash, and a millisecond later would start hitting those brakes.
There are predetermined rules for a field failure caused by a supplier.
No supplier would sign on to a critical part If they said they would have to be fully financially responsible for any failures caused by their deficient manufacture.
There is probably partial financial responsibility up to...
There is no real point in driving around in auto if you don't need it. You can do it, but in three years of use and 30,000 miles mine has probably been in auto 100 miles and in 4 high probably 10 miles. It's easier on the drivetrain, it saves a limited amount of fuel, and it's just logical. The...
Well like any new product, you got to get it out there give it some time in the field, and then figure out what improvements can and need to be made at what cost. This is how the LZ0 was born. If you waited for every improvement that you thought you could make, you'd never get anything out there...
Do they guarantee the 5.3/6.2 will never break? many didn't make 10K miles... Some were bad w/in 6 months of new and needed total replacement....
No engine is infallible, but the track record of the LM2/LZ0 is pretty solid so far. Read a few other forums besides this one about 5.3/6.2 failures...
