now that it is bent, it is too late to save. try to buy a new piece, then clean it with alcohol. clean the painted surface with laquer thinner then denatured alcohol. Then you can reapply the 3m tape.
If you use a 90-91 tranfer case with the vss you can use a front axle out of a pre 94 dodge or 73-87 chevy no problem. or if you keep the np246 your options include post 94 dodge or any ford front axle. It is preferable to keep a 32 inch spring pad width, so that narrows it down even further...
actually it is a high pinion Dana 44 from a 79 f250. It was there when I bought it, but I have put a lot of work into it since I bought it. There are a few companies that make a kit for a solid axle swap, but the guy I bought it from had a suspension place fabricate and install all the mounts...
You should find an alignment shop with a new state of the art rack that does 3d imaging to find out your scrub radius and they can type in your proposed tire size, then they can calculate offset needed to keep your scrub radius perfect.

the cheapest way to do it would be to find a donor 88-91 k5 or suburban for the t-case and axle
