Is This A PPV, An SSV, or What?

Thanks. It's pretty clean and tight. I like it a lot...........

Is This A PPV, An SSV, or What?

Whatever it was used for, it was stationed at Vandenburg AFB in SoCal. In the navigation system there are numerous other AF base addresses. Car Fax says it was serviced a time or two at the dealer in Lompoc, CA. It has a good, firm shift - perhaps like a locking torque converter. I hope that...

    2019 Tahoe reliability

While I love your input, you seem more cynical and not quite as seriously helpful as you used to be. Maybe it's just me???? Hope so. Anyway, you have been very helpful in the past. Thankful for that........

What's the highest mileage AFM motor you've seen or own?

I have an acquaintance with 211K on his 2011 Avalanche with no issues with his AFM, nor his 6L80. I have another acquaintance with 188K on his Tahoe. He just had his tranny rebuilt and has no idea what "AFM" even means. My luck will probably differ from these two guys - for the worse...

Is This A PPV, An SSV, or What?

Thanks. That helps (I think). My SSV(?) has none of the above that I can see. However, it clearly has the production code indicating it went to Kerr for something. "What" is the question, and I guess I will never know..........

Thanks for the information. Makes sense.

Is This A PPV, An SSV, or What?

I did not mention all the codes; just some codes. So, don't go by that, please. Thanks for the information, though.

Here are a couple of pictures. Please excuse the quality.

Is This A PPV, An SSV, or What?

Okay, I'll get pictures. But, it's going to look like any other silver 2014 Tahoe.........

Is This A PPV, An SSV, or What?

Howdy, boys: Several months ago I bought a low mileage 2014 Tahoe. It was represented as an LS, and it may be. But I was looking at the glove box codes the other day and it has "VPV", which is the code for Kerr Industries. As I'm sure you know, Kerr does the police and emergency vehicle mods...

    Wishful Thinking? (2014 Transmission)

And thank you! So.......... I have a "2014" NNBS model Tahoe - built 09/13. It does NOT have the thermostat. And, if I understand correctly, The "2015" Tahoe was manufactured beginning December 2013, and released for sale in February 2014. It would be a K2XX and would have the thermostat...

    Wishful Thinking? (2014 Transmission)

You lost me where you say, "So a 2014 Pick up is considered K2XX and a 2014 pick up is considered a NNBS.". So, it's both?

    Wishful Thinking? (2014 Transmission)

Howdy, Boys: I recently got a 2014 with 31,000 miles and bought a Superior thermostat bypass kit to lower the transmission temp, which I heard was a GM attempt to increase mileage at the expense of slow-cooking the transmission. Anyway, I went to get the kit installed at my local transmission...

    DFM disabler released

I understand that. I have a Range Technology disabler. It plugs into the port under the steering wheel (2014 Tahoe). But I think what these fellows are talking about is a new type disabler which requires some additional steps to install. See post #3 in this thread regarding what must be done...

Look what we brought home this past weekend

How nice. Not many left like that.

Wouldn't that which you described be the AFM disabler? (Not DFM)

    Help identify a sound

Check your front hub bearings. That's what mine was doing and it turned out to be the right front hub (4X4).

PPV Center Cap Press-Fit Nuts (In Wheel)

Thank you all very much. I went ahead and installed one of the (too thick) McMaster-Carr clinch nuts, tacked it in place, and ground it down flat enough so that it did not interfere with the wheel fitting flat against the hub. Well, at least I now know what to do if I ever encounter this issue...

PPV Center Cap Press-Fit Nuts (In Wheel)

Thanks. However, I am looking for the clinch nuts, insert nuts, captive nuts (they have multiple names) - what the bolts screw into that is pressed into the wheel from the backside. But I appreciate you trying to help me.

PPV Center Cap Press-Fit Nuts (In Wheel)

Yes, I have. Actually, I ordered some clinch nuts from McMaster-Carr, part #95185A-710. They were as close as I could find, but they don't have nearly as much knurling to grip the hole as the originals. Also, the head (flange area) is much thicker, to the point it might cause mis-seating of...
