    Gas choice

I thought the TBI motors were only 9:1 compression. If you havent messed with the computer just run regular 87 octane gas. Might want to run some seafoam to clean it out but you shouldnt have a problem with lower octane gas. The higher octane fuel is a waste unless youve done some mods to the...

    Found a 3.73 rear differential

ITs not a detroit locker. The eaton locker otherwise known as the Gov lock is a limited slip. And if you dont have a G80 its an open diff. Jack up the rear and put it in nuetral then spin one tire. If the other tire spins the oposite direction its open. Or if you can spin one tire while the...

    Ducks Unlimited Hoe?

    Pics of 285's?

I like the wheels, tires, n stance. Not a big fan of the wrap around brush guard and think the plastic air dam has to go but a nice rig. Id rather not have the tires stick out so far but the P/O got the wheels n tires on mine.

    Pics of 285's?

Im running a 33x11.5x16 on a 10" rim, so pretty much the same thing. Its what was on the truck when I got it with a 2" Body lift. And they are not just for looks. I knew someone with a 2 door and 285's on stock wheels that would hit the trails. I ran 285's on a grand cherokee with V8 3.73's...

    Found a 3.73 rear differential

Its not gonna cost much more so if you plan on bigger than 33" or still wanna tow/haul just go to 4.10's. I dont see a 3.42 to 3.73 as being worth it. Also I run 33s with the 3.42 gears and it does just fine for cruising and camping off the beaten path. I dont tow or haul much tho. And dont...

    99 magnaflow

Is something wrong with your tailpipe? I would just weld in a replacement muffler from Magnaflow or Flowmaster.

    4x4 decal or z71?

Jack up the rear and put it in neutral. Spin one tire if the other spins the same direction than you have the limited slip, if it spins other direction then yer open. Or spin one tire and try to hold the other. If you can hold one then yer open if you cant hold it you have the limited slip...

    MPG improvements

The tune could help but the biggest thing you can do is driving style. Be easy on the gas, these things have good low end torque and I can drive around just fine and never go above 2000 RPM. And thats with crappy gears and 33's. After owning numerous lifted trucks (since I live 7-8 miles from an...

    285 or 265

FYI: My cousin had a TPI Z71 extra cab that he ran 36's with 3.73's. Drove it every day n wheeled the piss out of it. Tho the 36" Super Swampers lasted him barely a year. It was far from ideal but never had any problems.

    285 or 265

WOT = Wide Open Throttle Mine doesnt feel sluggish at all. No its not as fast as the Grand Cherokee I had with 318 V8, 3.73's and 32's but this is a big heavy truck and has enough power for what I need it to do. And its quicker than the 85 Blazer I had for a wheeling only rig. It had a 160...

    285 or 265

I got my 97 Yukon with 2" body lift and 33x11.5x16 tires. Pretty much the same as a 285 tire. I have the crap 3.42 gears and ya it turns lower RPM's on the freeway but it accelerates good off the line and when I gun it while cruising. It downshifts on hills and when I wanna pass but no problems...

Would removing air filter cover do anything?

Back in the carb days I would flip the lid to the air cleaner housing to let in more air. Would removing the top cover of the air cleaner assembly do anything for me on my 97 Yukon? Help it suck in some more air?? Maybe then swap to a "performance" air filter?

    Best 16" tire??

Always liked the BFG all terrain. Have friends who have used them and luv 'em. Pickups, SUV's, and 2wd van. No problems on road and work great off road. If you want something a little cheaper theres the General Grabber AT which is very similar and has a 60,000 mile warranty. FYI: I bought...

97 Cali Yukon stock dual exhaust?

Its just a 2" body lift. On it when I got it. About $175, Ive put one on before and it wasnt too hard. Did it myself in a weekend. Cut out alot of the beer breaks and with a buddy do it in a day.

97 Cali Yukon stock dual exhaust?

So I was looking under my Yukon to fix an exhaust leak and noticed the performance muffler looks as old as the rest of the exhaust. It is true dual motor back with drivers side pipe crossing over to passenger side then each have their own catalytic converters then into a dual in dual out generic...

    50 vs 40? flowmaster

I had the 40's. Were fine around town n short jaunts but when I would do long road trips the drone got old fast. Go 50 series. Or better yet go Magnaflow or Hooker Max Flow.
