    Suspension questions

IMO keep it simple when it comes to long off-road trips especially out of the country. Yes dump the autoride strut/shock setup. The 5100s would be a good choice since it will also accommodate extra height in the back, and also get a set of air bags to help with the extra load. I have been...

Offroad parts suggestions? Whats needed to be beefed?

Uniballs can last a long time, but you need to take care of them. Have the TC UCAs on another rig for over 2 years. Take if offroad quite a bit which includes sand, mud, and snow (also salt/snow from city winter roads). Also been through 2 winters in Idaho and they are still going strong at...

Lifted / Leveled 2013 Build Thread

Yeah no kidding regarding the UCA; that ball joint looks maxed out. IMO get after market UCAs with uniballs and/or get longer spindles. That would put a hurting on front CVs if you had them! Truck looks great.

Icon Stage 2 Suspension System for '13 Z71 Tahoe

I run Icon on my Toyota FJ and they are robust, easily adjustable, great ride, and awesome offroad. I have the 2.5" coilovers with Total Chaos UCAs. The rear setup is Icon 2" lift coils with 2.0 shocks. Should have went and got the 2.5 rear shocks though. My wife is now driving the Tahoe and...

    Shock Extenders/Longer Shocks?

Oh yeah here's my rig back in the day with just the level kit and awaiting for new tires. Yes a little goofy but not too bad. FYI those are the stock 265/65/18s.

    Shock Extenders/Longer Shocks?

To me that looks like a 4" lift, maybe Rancho. I think the Rancho increases the front track width and that is the way it looks in the pictures. Nitto Trail Grapplers available in 18s that would look like the ones in the pictures 295/70/18 or 35/12.5/18.

Let's see some pics of some lifted and leveled

Not as big as most of you on here. Only have a 2.5/1 level kit with 285/65/18s.

    265/70/17 or 275/70/17?

Complete the chalk test to determine the optimal tire pressure. Rub chalk on a section of each tire tread and drive straight on level ground for ~100 ft and check the chalk. If the chalk is worn off evenly, the pressure is good. If the chalk is worn in the center then there is too much air...

    Shock Extenders/Longer Shocks?

Yes with the spacer level kit nothing to add up front. You can leave the rear shocks until they wear out unless your are taking it offroad or you really need that extra travel. The rear shock will limit maximum droop. Here's a pic of my rig with 2.5/1 level kit and 285/65/18s Nitto Trails.

Offroad parts suggestions? Whats needed to be beefed?

Ready Lift has heavy duty tie rods (steering kit) and Rough Country has sleeves. As far as Bilstein 5100s the bottom shafts are prone to bending when wheeled hard. Compared to other aftermarket coilovers that part is relatively thin. We have a few folks that have bent them on lighter rigs...

Offroad parts suggestions? Whats needed to be beefed?

Not sure what a 2-3 star trail rating is. The tie rods are a week link and IMO Bilstein 5100s are not that stout. Search for Bilstein 5100 broken strut. Rough Country makes upgraded tie rod sleeves. Uniball UCAs are better than just Moogs. Icon, Total Chaos and Camburg offer upgraded UCAs...

    spring helper ?

I have the Airlift 1000s and you need them for towing or heavy loads. I keep them at 5 psi around town and load them up to ~30 psi while towing the camper.

285/65/18 without level kit, will it work?

FYI 285/65/18 will rub even with a level kit. You will need to do some minor trimming to fit. Just install the CCM level kit and trim to fit the tires. IMO you will be disappointed compromising on either the extra lift height or skinny tires.

Rough Country 3.5" stock suspension question

Do you go to the desert down there or take it offroad? If so, take a look at ICON coilovers (not sure what the RC 3.5" consists of, so not sure if they are compatible). I have that on the FJ and they are great. If we keep the Tahoe I will replace the suspension with ICONs. Yeah I have been...

    07 Hoe w major rub issues-HELP

Keep in mind that you need to account for compression also, not just static conditions. Important when you take it offroad or any condition where you are turning and flexing the suspension. I am not sure if the body lift will create a gap with the bumpers. Hopefully someone on here can...

    New 275/60/20 BFG A/T KO2

The odometer is off due to the change in wheel size. You can confirm using GPS to measure distance. I did the BB tune to adjust the odometer and more.

New BFG KO2s 285/65/18 (replacing Nitto Trail Grapplers)

ST Max?!? That should be STT Pro :P! Not my rig any more. The next upsize from that is 305/65/18 and my wife did not want to spend the extra money ($244/tire versus $321/tire). That saves extra money for tires for my rig :).

New BFG KO2s 285/65/18 (replacing Nitto Trail Grapplers)

The Nitto Trail Grapplers finally wore out at 60k miles. They were great tires and handled onroad, gravel, rocks, mud, rain, and snow very well. Of course ice was an issue as with most mud terrain tires. I would definitely buy these again, but now that the Tahoe is my wife's rig (she also...
