100k differential maintenance question

Well I'm assuming your truck being AWD your setup is similar to a NBS Denali/Escalade which is AWD the issues they have are bearings going bad along with other internal parts, it's generally an issue on trucks that haven't been well maintained but even ones that are have had the issue too, you'll hear a humming type sound from the front diff at 40-60mph, the rear diff doesn't have these issues that I've heard about, the transfer case has a clip that overtime breaks and causes a hole to rub in the transfer case there is an upgraded setup to deal with that (when they drain the transfer case they might say there was more fluid in it because there is a seal between the transmission & transfer case that can leak causing tranny fluid to get into the transfer case) on my Escalade I'm going to change out the front diff fluid every 1-2 years depending how much I drive it's cheap and easy enough to do

Yeah, I recently changed the fluid in my front & rear diffs along with the fluid in the transfer case. When I opened the fill port to make sure it would come out before draining the case, and to vent the case while draining I was surprised with an extra 1-2 quarts of ATF that came out of the fill port. Luckily my drain pan was already under there with me, but it took a second to realize what was happening and get it into position. I'll eventually fix the seal, but since my AWD t-case is spec'd to have ATF in it I'm not in a rush and have been keeping an eye on the transmission fluid level. I don't know if it would be a bigger concern if the t-case was spec'd to use the blue AutoTrak fluid.

I had the same issue with mine, it was such a slow leak I had to top it off every 2wks, had a shop swap it out wasn't too bad I think 500-600 bucks

The odd thing is that it's been a few months and ~2000 miles and my transmission fluid is on the full mark and had not dropped. It must be a super slow leak, which is another reason I'm ok for now just keeping an eye on it.

I decided i will do the front, and rear differential myself, maybe the transfer case. Problem is that im gaving an issue finding out exactly how much oils and which oils i need exactly. can anyone tell me how much i need for the front, back and transfer case and what type of fluid? im gonna have the shop do the other stuff but these three things im sure i can do myself.

i have a 2004 tahoe LT with the T vin, AWD. 5.3L 8 cylinder.

If you go to the Amsoil website, and put in the details of your Tahoe they will give you the quantities and fluid types you need.

I found the information accurate when I did my service a few months ago.

i was thinking of going with Mobil1 for all the fluids. any one running mobil 1 in all their gears and stuff? the Amsoil looks good but kinda pricey there
