Thanks! This is and will always be a long term plan.

I've started cleaning things up. Brake cleaner and wire brush later...zebtLDh.jpg

I still have more wire brushing to go then painting.

Oh, trans is a 1993 model I think. Hence some dirt caked on ;-)

What are plans for truck?drag racing?
I see turbo in future (me also) but why 2200 stall?

Have you ever driven a rig with a stall convertor?2200 rpm in our heavy jazz trucks will probably run closer to 2500/2800 it will be slipping and creating heat below its stall

I am at about 1500rpms at 58mph w/3.73 gears

Just a curiosity question...and that turbo will dictate stall speed big time

Great build and am following

Our stock flash stall is at about 2000 rpm I think. I'm not doing a large turbo so I'll be getting peak torque early on. I figure a 2500 rpm stall would match peak torque. Yeah more heat is created but from what I read our torque converters lock up at cruise past 45mph, so no hear issues with slipping. I'd be more worried if I had a high 3.5k ish rpm stall.

4l80e comes with 2 torque converters. 1800rpm ish and 2200 rof models b81 and b82 respectively. I can only find dodgy rebuilds with bad reviews for the b82.

Soooo for $400 I found this promising converter with a perfect stall. Low enough to allow for towing.

Oh and my plan is capable towing with a bit more get up and go. Man this thing is a dog now. :p Storm chasing and running away speed too with a reliable trans.

Whats your plan?

Haha I forgot about the whole tc lock up and such, I went back in time to 3spd autos :jester:

3
speed?!

 I'd call you old man, but I'm not that young either.

You had me questioning myself for a few minutes!

Are you doing a trans swap or just seeing how long your stock 4l60e will last with a turbo?

have been dealing with Isuzus for 15 years and now they all have 5spds due to the awesome 4l30e (may of worked for the chevette and mercedes...not a 4500 pound truck):jester:

this is a toy, so next year will be a lift kit (no cranking I love the ride and 35's) then a turbo...then a trans...who knows?

I will kill a trans just so I can take it apart and see what failed :fc5716bd:

right now I am working on my bus and the tahoe is the "stupid" shit I couldnt do when I was "younger"....I will see how loud that old band pass box is today:chair:

the turbo setup will be similar to this:

I just read your Monte Carlo thread. You are no joke! I'll have to pick your brain in the future. Wow, very impressive stuff....
