People suck.
I posted a set of tires a few months ago. Took all kinds of high-quality pics: Shiny penny in the treads, head-on shots to show the depth, the date codes, the one with the patch plug in it... everything. I wasn't hiding anything. It was a full set of usable tires for $40. $10 per tire- half the price of what the used tire shacks sell for. I was even offering to meet up within reason. I just wanted them gone ASAP.
After ignoring a few generic "Is this available?" replies, a guy replied telling me how badly he needed them but was 30 minutes away. He asked if he could be at my house in about an hour, would I take $30. I said "If you come to me this afternoon, you can have 'em for $20". He then wanted more pics taken and sent as I was on the phone with him to prove that they were current pics and that the tires were real. I told him the tires were still leaning against the wall of my shop just as they were within the previous hour when I posted the ad. I sent him pics as requested. He then called back to tell me there was a huge nail head sticking out of one of the tires and asked what else was I trying to slip by him. I showed that it wasn't a "huge nail head", but the cylindrical shape of the plug that perfectly coincided with the patch to which it was attached. It was worn perfectly even with and even blended in with the tread. It had been there for ages and was driven on for thousands of miles. It, nor any other tires leaked nor did they not balance. That plug was mentioned and clearly displayed in the ad.
Anyway, this went back-and-forth over a while. I ended it when he made it a racial thing- He "didn't want no white man takin' advantage of a black man in need". After that, I told him my tires wouldn't suit his needs and I hung up. My next reply to him was a video of me chunking the tires into a roll-off dumpster at the house being built next door to me. That was satisfying!
(Yes, I got permission from the contractor. He built my house and all the houses on my street and has let me dispose of larger items a few times before. He's a car guy, too.)
