Well I would agree that mixing of the coolant was an issue but I would also say the decision I made was after hours of reading on many different sites and many accounts of life experience and chemistry. GM is a profit center and we must not buy into the line that everything they say, make, or approve of is in the consumers best interest.

Right because people on the internet are the experts. Are you a chemical engineer? I'm sure GM spent millions to design a coolant that purposely destroys their own products because they're a "profit center" (what business isn't a "profit center" anyway?). Do you realize how crazy that even sounds? Show me one instance where Dexcool was proven to have caused an issue in an engine that was not a 60* or 90* V6 with failed intake gaskets. I'll wait. The poorly designed/implemented intake gasket does not apply by the way because they realized they made a mistake and FIXED it with a new metal gasket (darn, but what about the profit center????).

So limited lifetime ac delco at rock Auto is AC delco not GM ? It has pretty hologram on the end.. do most of you change tranny lines same time you change radiator? I have one with surface rust and one is all wet with oil . It never ends lol .

It appears you have much frustration with opposing dexcool perspectives and that's ok.

I am sure you also will oppose those who don't buy into "lifetime" fluids and that's ok.

I am sure you will nit believe me when I say that software is used to predict end of life and failure cycles in designing consumer products. And that's ok.

By the way, the sky at my home is blue believe it or not. And that's ok.

Like I stated, I choose not to risk certain things. You are welcome to do that. I might be wrong in my position. That's ok. I'm not perfect.

No, I don't at all. I am very pro preventative maintenance as a matter of fact and I don't believe in lifetime fluids (GM never said Dexool is lifetime). I have a problem with false or misguided information which is what your "opposition" is based on (and conspiracy theories). Of course consumer products have an end of life but that doesn't mean GM designed a coolant for FORCE end of life...

DexCool is and has been my go-to for many many years on my GM vehicles without any issues. And you don’t have to buy ACDelco Dex Cool, many manufacturers make the same product. Don’t let anybody tell you that it’s bad for your GM vehicle or will cause trouble. There’s still a few people who swear it’s the worst thing invented and will kill your truck. I’m sure GM isn’t going to spend a fortune developing something that’s going to make their engines fail. Glad you have a handle on things.

My 02 has 170,000 miles on it, running DexCool. Exactly when do you suppose I’m going to see the ill effects of using this fluid, because I’m not seeing any. I replaced the radiator at 160,000 just as preventive maintenance and just for the hell of it I removed the end tanks to see what the inside looked like, and it looked brand new. Shouldn’t I have been seeing some issues from all those years of DexCool being run through it? I mean, if GM is trying to sabotage my engine by using this stuff and all.

That's exactly where mine cracked at and i put bars leak in which fixed it good enough until i got a new radiator. I've never had a problem with dex cool and my vehicle has 330,000 on it. I would just make sure you flush the old antifreeze out when you put your new radiator on.

Wow I didn't realise that this was such a hotly debated topic. I think we can all agree that if you decide to remove dexcool and run the green stuff thats fine too.

I've never had an issue directly related to dexcool so I choose to continue running it as it is the manufacturers recommended fluid, but if there is concrete facts that say it is definitively bad or worse I would not hesitate to change.

Anyone on the anti-dex side of things able to provide information proving that is the case?

That argument went away about 15 years ago, I’m surprised to find someone still anti-DexCool. Can’t wait to see this!

Please know I meant no harm in stating that I chose not to use dex. I never stated not to use it but only that user accounts raised way too much concern that $25 could easily totally eliminate.

When I got my yukon I didnt know what was in it but assumed dex and didn't know for how long.

Research brought up concerns and issues of mixing fluids and the whole crappile that has been argued everywhere. I myself chose to put in peak global so that those concerns would not be my concern.

That is risk avoidance. If you are happy on your path then stay the course.

These types of issues prove manufactung isnt making our lives much simpler but as we all see its much more challenging. This fluid or that fluid or this lube or that lube. Too much conflict in a world not intended to live like this.

Have a blessed day.
