36mm if factory stock. Dorman replacement nuts are 35mm.

I have slept since then, yes the 36 mm.

Ok guys thanks it’s raining and cold today and I don’t have a garage to put it in hopefully it’ll be dry tomorrow and I can pull it apart. The Tahoe has only 129k miles on it.

If I remember correctly the service records I do have from previous owner shows that the bearings were replaced at like 70k I think. Mine has 160k right now. So if it is the original, it sounds like it’s time is coming to be changed.

My 2000 Silverado needed a new hub in the drivers side 2 years ago at around 210k. I bought it right when it hit 100k. Replaced it with a timken. Found out the one I replaced was a timken as well. Pretty sure it was original from factory. I didn’t end up changing the other side and it’s still going fine. Not advised but I didn’t have the money to do 2.

Yeah with just buying this one the money is kind of limited. It kind of pisses me off that i didn’t hear the rattle before I bought it. I really didn’t hear it until I had been driving it for a little while

Based on the symptoms you described, it very well may be an end link. It could fall into place when going straight, then get out of whack when turning. Turning in different directions could alter this as the load will push it one way or the other. It may be fine and quiet until you hit that first big bump or take that first turn that makes the body lean. Just take a peek under there. On your knees, boy!

Jacked her up this morning. Got messing with every thing and neither front wheel has any ply at all and spinning the wheels I hear no grinding or rubbing or anything. All bushings look good on the sway bar links. Bushings look good in the struts. I did have one of the locking lug nuts that I took off by hand with no tools but the rattle is still there what’s next?

Did you look at the sway bar busings? Not just the links.
I did check them. Thing is they look like there might be a little space between them and the actual sway bar but I can’t move the sway bar. Even smacking it with a rubber hammer I don’t see any movement

Might be something to get into deeper before you do anything major. The weight and roll of the truck as it turns is way more stress than a rubber mallet can make.

When you spun the tires you said you could not hear anything but you did not say that you kept your hands on them to "feel" for the rumble or grind of a bearing, even if you feel no play. Plus, when driving there is way more stress on that bearing than when lifted off the ground.

Well I have chased it all day. I have found nothing. Best way I can describe it is hollow. It’s almost like 2 pieces of plastic bumping together. There’s no metal clunky sound. I have raised the vehicle and checked all 4 corners for anything loose. I can’t find anything wrong. My dad and a friend checked it out as well and they both agreed it’s such a low volume thing it’s going to be nearly impossible to track. One of them could t hear it at all. So I’m going to drive it a couple more days and see if it worsens. The weird part is when I took the center caps off and put them back it seemed to be much quieter for a little bit then started back to its original volume after probley 20 mins of driving. One more hint that may trigger something? I ride in the 3rd row at one point. And the sound almost sounded to be coming from the rear right side. So I crawled under that side and smacked the sway bar pretty hard and it does move a very small amount but I assume some play would be necessary?
