Chris, after all these years you think I don't know about AFM trays! LOL I meant that I don't know if there are different trays for regular lifters, the question posed was do GM Performance lifters use different trays. I didn't think so but never even thought to look. But then again my memory is going bad! Who makes those braided brake hoses you like again? LOL I already forgot and you told me the other day! LOL

I meeeeeean... I thought it was an awfully novice question on your part. But, we all have some small bits we've never delved.

I see the "GM Performance" branding as just that- the brand name and the lifters are standard LS7 or "LS7 style" lifters that are used in all the engines and not anything different or "higher performance". So I read the question as "Do you know if the trays are the same for the stock non AFM lifters and the [also stock] lifters?" Which, now makes your reply make more sense. Didn't mean to step on your toes!

Thanks man. Just ordered them off Amazon and they claim they will be delivered overnight by 8am tomorrow which is crazy. I verified they are GM genuine. I'm gonna keep the AFM trays I ordered since I suspect I might need them when I start dealing with my 08 Yukons misfire. Just an FYI the Amazon AFM trays I just got where legit GM genuine parts but you have to look real close when ordering. A lot of vendors are trying real hard trying to disguise knock off parts as GM originals using deceptive phrases and copying GM part numbers.

So the question now is do I put it in or keep my 170,000 mile original one which has never given me a problem whatsoever. I've been messing with both my trucks so much lately I honestly feel I could pull the intake in like 20 minutes so if it does go bad it's not the end of the world.

It's like I said in my previous novel- Summit doesn't manufacture their own parts, at least, not lifters. They also wouldn't risk their reputation on slapping their label on junk. They're big enough in notoriety and sales volume to strike good deals from whoever supplies GM with the parts they install at the factory. Like their "Summit Performance" LS head bolts, valve springs, rockers, etc., I'd suspect them lifters are Delphi or whoever actually manufacturers them.

+1 for lt1swap.com for your AFM disable. Note that they don't do any custom tuning. They only remove AFM from the programming. A bargain, IMO, for the ~$60 invested (once you factor in shipping to them). If your cam will work on a stock tune, then you're all set.

I'm going with the 12689035 OEM GM cam which I believe is the stock non AFM cam so I should be good as far as tuning. Just need to verify push rods are the same.

I'm going with the 12689035 OEM GM cam which I believe is the stock non AFM cam so I should be good as far as tuning. Just need to verify push rods are the same.

That's a smaller LM7 grind with VVT. Cost you about 10-15 horsepower.

I love it.

It's the stock 6.2 cam, has tons of low end.

ETA: Reviews state it "might" require a valve spring upgrade, so you will want to verify that the valve lift is compatable.
I think it is with the stock 699 heads... but again verify.

And I used 12689035 my first go around.
Lame cam, I lost power from the stock DOD camshaft.
Run away.
