2015 GMC Yukon XL SLT Apple Carplay?

Good afternoon all,

Does anyone know if there is a software upgrade or a module upgrade, where I can get apple carplay in my 2015 Yukon XL. I know that it was a option is mid 2016+. I'm trying to keep my dash as stock as possible, but get the benefit of maps that are always updated.

Welcome to the forum from Virginia. I don’t think there’s an update. I think it’s hardware related but some of folks with more experience with your rig will chime in. My 14 Sierra didn’t have it and I believe it’s the same hardware. If you replace yours there are lots of options to keep your stock look.

yes, you just have to change out the HMI module, properly programmed of course. as noted already wams can do it for you.
you just have to do your research for how much it will cost you, there are options.

You have to upgrade the radio as well. WAMS can provide them or you can get them on eBay.

I did this with my 2015 Yukon XL in January. Just the other day my center console went blank...dash control of radio only. I am working on figuring out what failed, but it could be the salvage HMI I bought on eBay from Nationwide Auto Salvage. WAMS says that happens often. It was working well for a few months. If I had it to do again I would have bought it all from WAMS.

Depends on if you have the larger screen already or not, if you have the small screen then yes and it's technically not a radio it's just a display

I do mean the radio receiver. It is inside the console under the screen.

You need to change the radio module and the hmi module out with ones from a newer vehicle also your gauge cluster needs reprogrammed for the steering wheel buttons to function. Or you can upgrade to the denali cluster. It's easier to just get everything from whiteautoandmedia.com they can program new modules and ship them out to you.

might be the case for the 2015, the wifes 2016 has it already and only needed the HMI & gps antenna for nav upgrade on my 2018
