this happened to me, remote start - hopped in and the vehicle didn’t turn on.

Disconnected the ground terminal on the battery. Reconnected and the trucks starts.

Now I’m worried to use remote start but please keep this thread posted once a software update is released so I can bring it it to get serviced.

Are the BCM updates a big deal? Are they done automatically at most dealers when you take your truck for service or do you have to ask? I just had to have a long conversation with my dealer to get them to do the update.

It’s something like this that should really be an OTA update loaded to your vehicle automatically. It’s known fix, it’s been tested And there’s no reason to have to go to the dealer to get it applied.

Agree - sure seems like many of the software fixes could be easily fixed with ota updates but on this issue my dealer told me they wont do a BCM update like this over the air because if it is interrupted it can leave the vehicle inoperable.

Bingo, there was a short time where OTA was a thing, but the reliability isn't there the way GM handles the process, so they just nixed the whole OTA process and leaves it to dealers on an as-needed basis based on customer complaints.

I’ve been super hesitant to use the auto start on my 22 after reading the thread but the 90 degree plus Georgia days were upon us so I made the appointment with my local deal and got the BCM updated on Wednesday. I’ve used the auto start without issue from the app a few times already. Fingers crossed.

Service department didn’t seem to know this was an issue nor did they know about the bulletin so I printed it out from this thread and brought it in with me.

whole process was quick, I had just hit 3000 miles so I said screw it and had them do the first oil change and tire rotation while I was there and whole thing took less than an hour.

Just had this happen to me! Just over 5K, been using my auto start from the fob from day one with no issues. My service advisor said he had never heard of this so I sent him the bulletin from above and he said he would talk with his tech about it prior to me getting it towed in. Glad to hear that an update will fix this, BUT I was never told about this at delivery back in March which blows my mind!
