I just picked up a 2002 Yukon Denali with a 6.0L Vortec 6000.

What are some common performance mods that you guys suggest?
I have looked at headers but I saw someone say that the Denali headers are already quite good.

I am eventually going to do a full exhaust (dual exit) and I am not sure what muffler to get.

Cams? I'm lost with cams, never looked at buying a cam. I am confident that I could install it though, granted I have fully rebuilt engines before.

CAI. I am going to get a CAI in the future, most likely a K & N unless someone else suggests a cheaper alternative.

Tune. I am familiar with the idea of tuning the engine computer granted I had a trailblazer. With the TB PCMForLess was the way to go, is that what Black Bear is to the Yukon/Tahoe?

That's all I could think of... Did I miss anything?

Cam wise call up comp cams tell them what you got and they will suggest something for you. They will ask you some basic questions on what you want.

Black bear is the way to go on the tune also.

Thanks for the info!

Any suggestions on anything else?

Forgot to mention transmission.... If I put 24's on it do I need to make any mods to it?

Manifolds are not that good, I would do a tune, electric fans, corvette servos, headers, swap the muffler out for a dual inlet single outlet muffler and it should run pretty good. If you are planning 24s and etc I would do FI instead of a cam as most cams (that the average person thinks they want) will move the powerband up and with heavy wheels will make the truck feel like a slug. Unless you want to run a small cam and slightly higher stall converter than stock.

You mean the exhaust manifolds?

True duals not a good idea? I really like the look of dual exhaust.

longtube headers, 3" pipe should be there already, nice muffler with dual outs if you like the sound/look.

CAI, and BlackBear tune.

thanks for the info. i'm thinking i like the sound of the corsa or the SLP exhausts. is one known to be better than the other on our trucks or are they just personal preference on sound?
