Might keep the air and go with the passive Arnott, AS2700. I called Arnott tech suport and the guy said the rebuilt units get bench tested and if they pass testing they get cleaned, painted, and a new air bag. He said that they cannot rebuild any of the shock components because of the fancy pants fluid in there which would need to be drained to do a rebuild and they don't have access to the proprietary fluid.
With the struts and springs I was looking at I was a little over $120 for each rear with an error resistor thing. For less than $30 more on each side (accounting for site discount and $25 credit for old shocks I send back to them) I can get a tested setup that still retains air and has a lifetime warranty. Plus an easier install, no spring to change or error eliminator to hack the harness for.
Guy couldn't tell me if they make these shocks or if they are now an Arnott Eibach. He said that whatever they don't make in house they contract now with Eibach instead of Bilstein.

hmm, well the 2708 is a completely different design than the factory air shock and I got 2 for less than the price of 1 oem with a lifetime warranty so I can't complain thus far.
So I take it you've been very satisfied with the 2708?
so far, I was getting a little vibration at about 90mph seems to have resolved most of it, my old ones were leaking and the vibration was more apparent. and I don't hear my pump kicking on multiple times a day.
I ended up ordering the 2700 passive rears from Rock Auto using the forum discount, thanks for the heads up on that. I'll post up some install pics, hopefully I can get this done next weekend.
Went this route because I figured it's only a matter of short time before my fronts take a dump and I can swap in the Arnott units up there. Plus I don't feel like I'm rolling the dice as much as I would be if I swapped springs.

there fairly easy to do, I did mine without taking off the wheel shroud, put the frame on jack stands and use a jack to lift or lower the rear differential as needed to get the bolts in/out
the top is a little tight this way but doable with the right tools. torque is 75lbs I believe the bolts/nuts are 21mm. have fun!

oh and watch out for the abs harness which sits right directly above the frame inline with the top bolts, they can get disconnected in the process of doing this then you'll get service traction control, blah blah on the dic.
Thanks for the heads up. I got the shocks today, Arnott has a sheet in the box with the shocks that warns exactly about this with pictures of the harness. I wanted to be proactive and get some penetrating oil on the bolts, but got about 7" of snow last weekend and lets say I found a reason to get out in it and now she's dirty as hell. Hoping the impact will break them loose. Ironically I got no suspension error codes this weekend and the compressor fired up, must like the below 0 temps. Time to exercise these gremlins!
I may need to purchase another 21mm socket to hold the nut on the inside, looked kind of tight in there the last time I looked so open end wrench probably won't work to hold it.
