Ok so my motor sounds like there are a couple of bolts rattling around inside.... I've checked the tourqe converter bolts, removed passenger side valve cover(everything looks ok) and took off one sparkplug boot at a time and the noise is still there.... now the truck still driveable fine... and when I give it some gas the noise reduces but u can still slightly hear it.... so I'm at my wits end.... guess ill be biting the bullet for a new motor soon.... I've been researching remanufactured motors and I'm exhausted.... there's the 1500.00 advance and autozone motors... the 1800.00 napa motor... the 2400.00 jasper motor and finally the 2340.00 dealer motor... I've haven't heard great things about.any of the lower priced motors or their warranty claims... and I've heard mixed things about jasper. And of course I guess I can't go wrong with a factory motor... Im still paying on the loan, can't afford a built 383.... and don't want a ************* that ill have to replace.any time soon.... BUT.... before I bite the bullet, I'm gonna have a certified mechanic look at it..... not sure if there is a question in here somewhere or just me ranting..... but I guess feed back of some kind would be great.....

if you plan on keeping it i would suggest a 383. i just the 600mi mark on mine and i love it. plus the guys on this forum are extremely helpful. i got my orginal vortec block rebuilt for about 2500 to a 385 stroker.

Yeah I'd love a 383.... but I need the fuel economy and then i'd have to pay for a bbtune (which I've been saving for) and a new exhaust which would be nice but mine is only a few years old... so I'm looking at well over 3000.00 when its all said and done....

yea im well over 5k on this thing already between parts and labor. but as far as fuel economy i was told you might get better gas milage on a 383 because it doesnt take as much rpm to build up the torque. i read it somewhere i think. sounds weird but who knows. some one on here will know. i waiting to get a bb tune now.

i have a guy that for 2800 a 383 stroker ready to drop in will be shipped to your door. im currently saving for it.. you get to choose the color of your block.. what kind of valve covers you want and what kind of intake you want satin or polished or chrome. and everything will bolt up and run.. just need a tune and upgrade as you go.. you just want to upgrade your fuel pump and injectors first before you go too far as it might run lean with no work done at all. you got it easy as yours is already a vortec truck.. mine is a pain in the ass

Yeah I called your guy today (got his # from a previous post) to get details but he didn't answer so I left a message.. no return call yet.. how would I upgrade the injectors, I've already put in the updated spider assy 3,000 miles ago..
So it was 2800.00 shipped?

In one of your other threads you said it was a dog and isn't running to it's fullest. Which is it??

Get that 383, pull it apart, check bearing clearences, just basicly do a complete once over on the motor.. So its not a "Well I put it in and 1 week later spun a bearing" type ordeal.

Ive seen bran new crate motors full of sand! and one had mis matched heads as in normal CR and a High CR head!
ALWAYS! open up that new crate motor and check it!!
