I am about to embark on this mission as well as a few other things with the Tahoe.

Not gonna waste any time. We just bought a crate motor, with 0 miles.

1.shave the heads to raise compression

2. Camshaft upgrade (any recommendations)

3. custom Live tune by someone.

If I get to 380-400hp I’ll keep the truck and never sell it.

Last dyno run was 360 wheel at 5900rpm...........but the injectors were maxed out. We'll see what the new injectors and some E85 will do for my numbers.

If shooting for 400 wheel, you will need bigger injectors. I found a great shop in TN, I got a set of proper sized(body) injectors with overnight shipping for $186.

So might as well add this to your build now. The PCM will need be calibrated for the larger injectors before you start it up; or you'll possibly flood the cylinders with fuel or foul the plugs out.

I'm installing the injectors on Tuesday and have it towed to the dyno on Wednesday.

Is that without the DOD, and all that other crap? Actually a great idea to start out fresh. This just the long block?

Yeah shit can the AFM and VVT for sure.

There are plenty of recent builds in here; so pretty much any information you could need is here.

Since this is your thread, feel free to ask the questions in here and we can assist.

Back in October I did a complete tear down and rebuild on my '10 PPV. AFM/VVT delete, heads, cam and all associated parts.

Ive done both the 5.3 and the 6.2 in my yukon xl.

Just do the 6.2. The cammed 5.3 with headers and nice ported PRC heads went 7.2 0-60.

I did the 6.2 with a vvt cam and stock, milled l94 heads and it went 5.5 0-60. Same exhaust as 5.3.

The 5.3 ran great above 4k rpms, comparable to the 6.2. But below 4k it's anemic. The 5.3 isnt bad and was miles better than stock 5.3. But the 6.2 is on another level.

Ohhhhhh man you guys are on it.

can I buy the Stock 6.2 and run it without swapping PCM.

My shop has a saying: We will make your car the best it could ever be from the factory.

Mainly for repair, insurance and warranty purposes. I’d love to go 6.2 in the Tahoe too.

Well I’m definitely interested in the 6.2, look at what I’m driving now lol. FFE7736F-B51B-48AF-BC24-E49CDD6050D8.jpeg

a 6.2 Silverado and that thing Barks!!!! But yes I need 5.5 0-60 at least. Looks like I’ll be returning a motor.

I’ll have some questions about doing this correctly.
