Backed into a truck at night, someone was parked behind my driveway. Was going so slow it just scraped off the paint, no dents or cracks, just facial cosmetic. Because of work and $$$, I have been playing with the idea of a do-it-myself method. Any you guys have experience touching up cosmetic issues?

Someone will have better ideas... But I would scuff it, cut a hole in a plastic canvas and mask around it and hit it with black touch up spray paint.

Then you can feather the seem with polishing compound on printer paper. I'd wax polish ontop of that. Should look normal for a bumper and cost $15.

Paint is gone, looks more like "peppered" look when you get right on it, there is no paint transfer from his truck, he has a Black truck too.

I would take it to a shop but all the places are quoting $370 for a re-spray and wont be able to get my truck back to me until 3-5 days and that isnt happening because of work.

I was thinking of masking off the area around, light sanding to blend the damaged area, maybe shoot it with a can of primer if it needs it, wet sand, spray with Duplicolor lightly until theres a nice even coat of black, then spray clear over it as many times as needed... and finally wet sand one more time with 3000 grit and polish and then wax with my buffer.

It's really not that noticeable until you get right up on the bumper. I'd love to keep the $375 in my pocket and maybe spend 20-30$ for the cans of paint/clear and try this...

thanks for all your input guys!

Yea, worst you can do is make it look like crap and get it painted. Best case, it looks acceptable. I say go for it!
