I have been using Mobil 1 since the hoe had around 12,000 miles. Actually my wifes Equinox and sons Impala are all on Mobile 1. My Tahoe is the only vehicle in my household with over 100k. I'm sticking to it unless I decide switch over to Royal Purple.

i think we should start with - what oil are you currently using? (conventional, blended, or fully synthetic)

If you're running conventional, stick with it. If you're running synthetic, all of the brands listed are pretty good - I personally put Mobile 1 in all my vehicles (synthetic for all but one)

Royal Purple is good, but for our rigs, it's really overkill...especially if you plan on putting mileage on your vehicle.

Honestly, most major companies making synthetic oil have great products. As long as you change your oil regularly, you're in good shape. I personally always stay away from "cleaners" in my oil however.

5w30 mobile 1 synthetic. It doesn't matter if you are running conventional or not, you can switch to synthetic anytime.

I have a relative who is a engineer that worked with the mobile 1 synthetics wayyyyyy back when they first came out. Just stick with the 5w30 for everything. He said that with synthetics, whether it's 5w30 or 10w30 or whatever it is, doesn't matter. Synthetic oil stays the same consistency no matter what the temperature, which is why it's so great. When the temperature drops below zero, your mobile 1 synthetic will be the same consistency as when it's 100 degrees out.

Don't go synthetic cause once you go over you can't go back

So what if you can't go back. It's good for at least 10,000 miles between oil changes because it doesn't break down like conventional, doesn't sludge up near as bad as conventional and every engine I've used it in has lasted at least 100k without any issues. It's a good investment and I'd change to it any time and keep up with it.
