Best option for replacing stock shocks

Yeah if you have the auto ride suspension you'll want to do the springs as well. The stock springs are really soft as they rely on the auto ride shocks for support. Moog 81071 is the non Z71 spring

Should one do both shocks and coils at the same time if possible?

+1 on that. I went with Moogs/Ranchos and eventually Bilstiens. Took all of the autoride components out and put resistors on the shock/pump wiring.

SEARCH, there are many many many many threads on this!!!

My SLT Autoride now has Bilstein 4600 up front and Arnott AS-2700 in the rear and got a new Dorman air pump on Amazon. Its rides SUPER smooth, not harsh or rough or too soft where you get sea-sick.

Another vote for Bilstein 4600. Have them on my Tahoe and Duramax.

I just purchased a 2005 yukon xl denali. What do you guys think I should do when I need shocks? My mechanic said that it.won't be long before I need to replace them....

So...on Rock Auto, and on ShockWarehouse...it states that I need the Bilstein coils (199021) as well if installing the 4600's on the rear.
Can I just get the Moog replacement ones...or do I need to get the Bilsteins to avoid sag?
If I can get the Moogs...which ones? Rock Auto has 2 options...regular (81071) and heavy duty (81069).

"heavy duty" 81069's are the ones used in the z71's and will raise your ride height. I did not feel that they were terribly stiff, even trimmed to reduce ride height in my case, and combined with 4600's.

If you want to maintain stock ride height and/or prefer a softer ride then use the 81071's
