You have to take the motor out of the transfer case it's pointless though just save up for 4.10 gears for your 4x4

No the reason I want to de-4x4 it is because in order to gets 3.73s which is what I want I have to get a bigger carrier but on a lowered Tahoe I don't even need 4x4 so if its not to expensive I just want to get rid of it.

Even if you can, don't do it.

You will end up selling one day, and regret it.

So Modded, what shocks are you running in the front now? I missed this...... Without reading through it all.............

What if I just took off the drive axel for the front diff? I could put it back on.

And he's running bell tech sp shocks in front to get the 3rd inch down

You could do that. But I think it will throw an error code on the front diff.

You'd be MUCH better off just selling your Hoe for a 2WD Hoe rather than "de-4x4"ing what you have.

Make it easier to work on the front end and cheaper and easy to get 3.73s

I don't have that option.

In the end it'd be cheaper but turning your Hoe into a 2WD will cost a pretty penny I'm going to guess. It's not as simple as just taking the front diff out and magically you have a 2WD.

Then say that you do decide to turn it into a true 2WD. Do you plan on modding your interior to remove the 4WD selection knob? Obviously, not real hard I'd imagine but it'd be silly to keep that knob and not have any function anymore.

Either way, I'm along for the ride to see what you do  There's got to be a ton of white 2WD Hoes running around that you could acquire, move your mods over to and then sell your current Hoe and you'd end up ahead or worst case scenario break even.

Buying diff car and swapping sounds like a much easier outcome. Also why did you buy a 4wd and drop it to begin with. Why not get a 2wd from the get go.
