The struts are ok unless you are hitting repetitive bumps then they don't respond fast enough.

Could this work guys?
Yeah just pull your drive shaft, CV axles, and 4wd hubs. Then reinstall 2wd hubs.
Why do you need to though?

Hmmmm. Wonder why that is.

I wish I could have the stock struts "modded" like Tony says.

@ Blazed.......I would leave it be Bro.

A extensive modification, especially one that renders a sought after feature......useless, is not going to bode well come resale.

It has to do with the front being s strut assembly. Struts offer better response than a separate coils and shock assembly.
I do not like the danger of getting a lip machined in the front shock to hold the lower strut seat lower (which essentially drops the front of the car). Reason being that you just took away from the casing of the shock, which can cause it to break if it is put under trying conditions. That would not be a very fun accident if/when that happens.
The chances are slim that something crazy like that would happen, but it is more likely if that lip is machined on there.

Thats what I figured I could do most of that myself.
But how much would the hubs be?

The hub is the "big thing" that goes into the "big hole" in the spindle.

Lug nuts and all.

I NEVER thought about that. :shakehead: Thanks for pointing it out.

The hub mounts to the spindles with three bolts.
In 2wd models, it spins freely. In 4wd models, the CV shat turns them.
And yes, you absolutely need them.
Should run no more than $180 for both.

Oh ok.
Well according to this parts website they are all the same...
So it looks like I'd just take the axles out and the drive shaft and call it done. Of course I'd cap it off.

My last post was before I saw yours modded.
That makes perfect sense I wonder what's up with that website I was looking at thenzzz

So if I took the cv axles out the hub would be locked in place and not spin?
Or if it does spin it wouldn't be without effort?

No the reason I want to de-4x4 it is because in order to gets 3.73s which is what I want I have to get a bigger carrier but on a lowered Tahoe I don't even need 4x4 so if its not to expensive I just want to get rid of it.

I know I'm saying save up to get front and rear done so you don't have to de-4x4 your truck

The 4wd and 2wd hubs are similar (both can spin freely), but the 4wd hub has a hole in the back for the axle to go through and bolt down on the other side. They are not the same though.
You could just pull the front driveshaft if you want now that I am rethinking it.
Do you not have an option to put the Tahoe in 2wd?
Also, why do you want it 2wd? If you are using only 2" drop spindles your 4wd feature will still work?

I thought soo....
And I can put it in 2wd I want it to be 2wd only so I can get 3.73s
I can't get 3.73s in the front because they don't fit and besides even if I could its more money.

Modded out of curiosity where did you learn so much about cars?

I have always been around cars and always liked watching my dad and mechanics work on them. I am not as good with cars when it comes to the mechanical modification basis, especially performance parts. But almost everything else (like suspension and electrical), I am good at, or learn real quick. Also, when I am bored on the internet, I read up on car stuff to learn more.
With your whole 2wd issue I was a bit confused and had to think it over in my head a few times haha.
