Leave them off. I have a Westin on the tahoe and I have two sets of bracket to hold it on. The main set attaches to the frame where the tow hooks currently are and teh other set bolts to teh bumper which added a decent bit of support to mine

if you can i would keep tow hooks on ( might need it to get pull out ) i weled a tow hook to the bottom of my hitch bar (ball on top, hook on bottom) when not in use i pull the pin and it slides out.

psf,
my hoe is a sport, so the grill came that way.

if you want to try your grill black, i would suggest using plastic dip. i have heard it holds up well, but if you don't like it you can peel it off.
