Whatever is coming off the deck. I would assume 12v:shrug:. I also have accessory usb plugs that are 5v.
Oh, you’re plugging into the HU. I’ll be using the 12v cigarette lighter socket, or removing it actually, so that’s going to be a 12v + wire. This is why I’m dropping it to 5v. I’m sure if you’re plugging usb male end into usb female on the HU, it’s already providing 5v. [emoji106]

Oh I figured the head unit was 12v, idk. But I was also saying i replaced my cigarette lighter with an accessory usb plug next to it, and those are both 5v but different amps20190119_023101.jpg

Yeah, my usb / audio jack combo just has a usb male end, to plug into an existing female usb. So there’s no voltage drop/ adapter in it. I’ll be cutting that end off, since I still have the factory HU, and using the 12v lighter wiring to power it.

@Sam Harris you need a buck converter, this will give you a solid 3 amp 5v from your 12volt positive
these are what I am using for my car computer but can be wired to usb positive and negitive for charging
