Chevy Tahoe as a police vehicle

I checked out a Lubbock Police Department Chevy Tahoe a week or so ago. I stopped at a house where a police officer was doing some things on the inside of the Tahoe he drives and asked him if I could get a close-up view. He was very nice and answered lots of questions I had.

I think the biggest downside they've got with the Tahoe is the braking system, which is a negative with the quick stops they often have to make.

I sure like not seeing a roof rack on the Tahoe. Why doesn't General Motors let us order a Tahoe without a roof rack?

I would like to purchase a Tahoe SSV. Does anyone have any dealers that know how to order one? All my dealers around here say they cant do it. Its basicly the same at the Police Tahoe but in 4WD and not pursuit rated.

Looking for a used SSV or PPV check out these dealers...all three are located in Chicago. These guys are always getting used Tahoes in the door.

crown vics get about the same as my tahoe. i had an 03 Police Interceptor and was getting less than 16 mpg with it.

I always get so annoyed with the size of the exhausts on those crown vics when I see them. From what I understand, they have a pretty powerful engine (I've heard in the past they have the same engine as Mustangs, not sure if that's true) but the exhausts are TINY. It's like they're just choking those engines.

In Hoover there is no such thing as a police "car"...100% Tahoes.

Same in Mansfield.
Not a car in sight in fact they have one 2500 silverado.
