one thing I can tell you is there is no such thing as key one and key 2. Those keys are dead/dumb $1 hardware store blanks. The only functional difference between remote 1 and remote two is which is coded to the truck first and they are distinguishable to the alarm brain (remote code or freq or both?)

That means it has to be reverting to a default setting when the key is used to trigger driver preferences (when passlock is activated/authenticated). I assume the logical choice would be Driver 1. :)

Didn;t you say, AK that you did NOT use the PassKey Data module? That could be the (pun intended) Key variable.

NARCO:

IF you move your chair to some other position (or use easy exit), the seat moves back to D1 position?
When does it do it, upon remote usage or when you put the key in?

IF you use d2 and different presets (or leave it on CD) does it rever to D1 and D1 presets? trying to figure out how the system works for you.

ONly D1 or does it diferentiate between one remote and another?

I'll have to take some time to play with it tomorrow. My preferences are set to key in, but if I autostart and put my key in nothing happens. Haven't fiddled with my wife's yet. She has her preferences set to the remote.

And yeah, he didn't use the XK06 module, but did something else, so that may tie into it as well. I'll have to ask him about that and it's effects on driver recognition.

Got me thinking how the autostart knows what HVAC settings to use when it turns on. Obviously I want it to heat up and preferrably be on defrost, which is normally how I leave things when I get out of the car.

Just some more tinkering is in order, I think. Haven't had a lot of time to experiment. Still need to set the remote preferences as well. I really don't need the alarm to chirp to tell me when I'm ten feet from the car that it is now unlocked, so I want to turn that off. And the noise the remote itself makes is annoying as well. Wonder if you can change it. I need to spend some more time with the manual and figure things out further.

I was happy about the autostarting when it gets too cold, though.

Good...I don't know what they were thinking when they brain-stormed that one.

Had a fun morning. My wife used her old keys to unlock the door. It was fairly warm, so she skipped the autostart. So, the alarm started going off when she opened the door. I didn't think it was supposed to do that; was told it didn't matter how it got unlocked, once unlocked the alarm would deactivate along with the factory security. She could not get the thing to turn off. Had to drive a kid school, halfway there with lights flashing and alarm going off.

It finally stopped, but then kid had to get out of car and go in school. Alarm goes off again. Won't stop, no matter what she does. Drives halfway home with lights flashing and alarm going off.

I am now dealing with a highly pissed-off wife who managed, in her button-mashing rage to make the alarm stop, to somehow make her remote not talk to the alarm anymore at all.

Good times.

well, that is a positive and a negative.

1: positive that unlocking the door did NOT deactivate the alarm (otherwise lock punching would deactivate the alarm)
2: negative that the car still started up.

lol. i just went to lunch with the wife. i used the auto start from inside the restaurant and when i got back in the car.....no more check engine light! the guy was right. he was telling me that it would take a few days for the truck to recognize the bypass system and know that it was supposed to be there. who knows.

ill check on the driver recog in a little bit...its snowing pretty heavy here right now.

Sounds like it's snowing everywhere but here, which is a little backwards, but hey....I'm not complaining.

my seats and mirrors stay where they were when i shut the truck off...if i move it from where my preset 1 position is and use the autostart it doesnt move to #1...it stays wherever i had it.

thats not a big deal for me b/c no one drives it but me. if she does drive it she can hit 2 and roll out..not a big deal. i dont use the easy exit feature either so everything stays the way i like it.

ok, so your's doesn't do the Driver's preference automatically either.

Wonder if there is some way to pulse that using the progressive unlock wire?
I'm assuming you are triggering all unlock together so it probably isn't being used. Would be possible to double tap unlock for driver 2, then tie in the regular unlock for driver 1?

Anyway, just a thought.
