Give yourself way more than 10 minutes to do this work if you have never done it before (just don't plan on being in a rush at all). There are some great write-ups online with pictures that will give you the run down. Just google 4l60e corvette servo install or similar. It's not that hard, just a little cramped if you are not working on a lift.

You mess up a vette servo install and You WILL crack the trans case! This has happened to many many people. Its very important to make sure you do not cut the o-rings installing it and make damn sure the cap is pressed fully into the case when installing the C clip that holds it in. As not getting the cap and ring fully seated is what cracks the case.
Cutting o-rings and or installing the piston backwards, looses (temp, until installed correctly) gears.

Install time 10 mins for a Pro with correct tooling, with the trans sitting on a bench.
Typical douche like me and you, a hour and I've done two.
Make that a body lifted, non catted vehicle it gets even easier.

Good (non butt **** Trans shop) 75$ and a day, unless they immediately start on it, then 10-30 mins. with vehicle on a lift and correct tooling.

I will say this tho now that the scare tactic has been deployed. Any monkey that can change a alternator, can do this mod. Just make sure to follow instructions to the letter and watch a couple Youtube vids.

My first install took me 4 hours. mainly due to beating the shit out of the heat shield and floor pan to get the servo assembly out and back into the trans, Correctly and dbl checking that I was not cutting orings.
Pro tip, use your pos verticle jack to support the trans and remove the trans crossmember, then lower the trans to allow for WAY easy access to the servo cap.
Machined aluminum will slice a O-ring faster than a starving fat kid will eat a ice cream snickers bar!
This was laying on my back with trans inches from my face.

GL, don't be scared and may the force be with you!

i just rebuilt my 02 tahoe 4L60E with a vette servo and what it doesn differently is when you start off the more you put your foot into the pedal the longer it will delay the shift so when you put it all the way to the floor it wont shiift untill it get close to redline
the shifts are a tad bit firmer but you hardly notice and thats about all it doesn
so with this upgrade its pretty much you get what you pay for wich is not much
and it is very easy to install

Not to jack the thread, but I already had the Sonnax boost valve installed a while back which is supposed to help with line pressure. Not sure why I didn't do the vette servo at the same time. Any problem running both?

---------- Post added at 03:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:12 PM ----------

Answered my own question by calling my trans shop. He explained swapping to the vette servo would be overkill since I already have the boost valve. It will probably shift too hard. He also explained the boost valve is the better choice of two because it increases line pressure throughout the shift range, whereas the vette servo only affect 2 and 4. Just FYI.

So how do you feel about the shifts with the Sonnax Boost valve?

I'd like to figure out which way I should go.

I hear about 4l60's slipping on the 2-3 shift a lot and apparently the vette servo doesn't address that, so I'm leaning towards the Sonnax line pressure kit. I figure I can do that first, and if it still seems sloppy going into 2nd and 4th I can add the vette servo later. Doubt it will be necessary though. My real goal is trans longevity, not dragster performance.

It firmed up the shifts, nothing jerky or harsh. I'm happy with it and been using and towing with it for 2-3 years now, no problems.

Ok! So I ordered the Vette Servo. Hopefully I'll notice a positive enhancement to my Trans Shifts. If not, oh well...

Cool let us know how it works out. I think you'll have a noticeable improvement in your shifts.

I'm running one in my S10 Blazer and it made a nice difference.
