You mess up a vette servo install and You WILL crack the trans case! This has happened to many many people. Its very important to make sure you do not cut the o-rings installing it and make damn sure the cap is pressed fully into the case when installing the C clip that holds it in. As not getting the cap and ring fully seated is what cracks the case.
Cutting o-rings and or installing the piston backwards, looses (temp, until installed correctly) gears.
Install time 10 mins for a Pro with correct tooling, with the trans sitting on a bench.
Typical douche like me and you, a hour and I've done two.
Make that a body lifted, non catted vehicle it gets even easier.
Good (non butt **** Trans shop) 75$ and a day, unless they immediately start on it, then 10-30 mins. with vehicle on a lift and correct tooling.
I will say this tho now that the scare tactic has been deployed. Any monkey that can change a alternator, can do this mod. Just make sure to follow instructions to the letter and watch a couple Youtube vids.
My first install took me 4 hours. mainly due to beating the shit out of the heat shield and floor pan to get the servo assembly out and back into the trans, Correctly and dbl checking that I was not cutting orings.
Pro tip, use your pos verticle jack to support the trans and remove the trans crossmember, then lower the trans to allow for WAY easy access to the servo cap.
Machined aluminum will slice a O-ring faster than a starving fat kid will eat a ice cream snickers bar!
This was laying on my back with trans inches from my face.
GL, don't be scared and may the force be with you!
