Crash safety : 2007 to 2014 Yukon Vs 2015+ Yukon

I do own both 2013 Escalade EXT & 2011 Yukon Denali. Lately I been viewing some crash test videos of this generation of GM SUVs compared to newer 2015+ models I was shocked that the 2015s are alot safer. I appreciate all views

Why shocked? Shouldn't consumers expect that automobile manufacturer's will endeavor to make their products safer?

What is not measured or reported are the vehicles least involved in crashes, those with superior situational awareness and the ability to get their driver's out of harm's way.

Mine own proclivity is to not go out and buy the next generation because it is rated as superior in an accident.

You should check out the crash tests on the Expedition. That’s impressive. Something for GM to strive for.

2015+ are much safer because they spend more time parked in the dealer's service department than they do on the highway.

NNBS design was probably started around 2004-05 and no major changes were instituted during the production run. The K2xx design was probably started in 2012-2013. Pretty sure safety design took quite a big natural steps forward during those 7-8 years. Just like any other technology.

I still don’t understand why they don’t do the offset frontal crash test on the Suburban. I think Chevy needs to submit a vehicle to get them to do it but I would really like to see the results. This is an important test.

Well, as for me and my house, we do not buy vehicles based on ratings, especially from the grossly biased and discredited Consumer Reports.

You could however conduct your own test...

I’m not sure why you mentioned Consumer Reports. IIHS and NHTSA do the crash tests. And the GM trucks do not perform as well as the Ford Expedition.

The other point I was making is that I would really like to see IIHS Test the Suburban with the offset frontal collision. However GM needs to submit a vehicle to them in order for them to conduct this test. It’s a really hard test to pass. I saw a Ford F-150 fail miserably, the entire drivers cabin collapsed. This was a few years back, then Ford improved their design and now they perform much better.

Maybe GM knows it would "fail" and chooses not to give someone bullets to shoot back at them?
