Can anyone with a 6.2L L94 answer this question?

I’m finally able to get around to working on the install of the Delete. When I placed the order with Texas speed I had some questions for them in regards to the engine codes the website was saying. It kept referring to the L92 and I have a L94 they assured me everything will work. Ok cool I ordered everything and found out they didn’t ship my valley cover, called them up and they shipped it right out but while I was on the phone with them they told me I was sent the wrong CAM Phaser they sent me one for a LT4 5450, they sent me a new one and it’s for a L92 5456.

So I’ve been trying for the past hour to get the spring lock to stay in place and it keeps popping out. So after some research of my own I found a part number for the L94 5460.

So questions are:

Will the L92 CAM Phaser work?

Is the cam for an L92 going to work in an L94?

I wouldn’t have questioned it but the whole CAM Phaser thing makes me think everything is incorrect
The l94 is just a l92 with flex fuel injectors and fuel pump, as well as displacement on demand. Once you delete the dod, it will turn into an l9h which is a flex fuel version of the l92.

Oh, and you are using the wrong CAM Phaser limiter, the 5456 is for the early model Phaser, you have the laster model Phaser, so the second part number is the one you want. It isn't am l92vs l94 thing, it's a year of engine thing. 2010 and up use the later model Phaser, and thus, the later model limiter you correctly identified you indeed need

Thank you for clarify that. Well this sucks lol I don’t have much personal time to do projects like this and because of a mistake that TSP made I can’t finish putting this together.

That does suck. At least you live in the US and can have parts same or next day shipped from anywhere. You should see the fun when you get the wrong parts shipped to Canada!! Turns from a one day inconvenience, to a week wait for the proper part, never mind sending the wrong one back, it's all kinds of paperwork and hassle.

I called TSP this morning and the rep I spoke to is insistent that the 5456 will work because of their cam. I tried to explain to that Comp Cams paper work says it's for 07-08 engines but he was tried to ensure me it'll work, I then told him that Comp Cam has the 5460 that says it's meant for 09+ but he told me that the 5456 will work. I'm on the phone with Comp Cams trying to see what they will say (been on hold for 35mins now).

I'm not to sure if I trust what TSP is saying.

I just checked my invoices and tsp has been supplying and me using the 5456 with their camshafts.

From what I can figure, the older camshaft Phaser has a different range of motion than the 09 and later Phaser, that is why there are 2 different numbers for the 07-08 and the 09 and up limiter kits.

It seems like when tsp developed the cams, they used the 07-08 style limiter inside the newer style Phaser in order to limit it.

You should for sure use the 5456 they supplied, if you use the 5460, I think it will be off on the range of the Phaser.

Sorry for giving you bad info earlier, the use of the 5456 seems to be built into the camshaft design, even though technically the 5460 with a stock based cam design would be the proper one. Quite confusing.

I appreciate you doing some research on this for me. It is quite confusing and I was concerned I'm going to mess something up because of a timing issue. I will run the 5456 now if only I can get the tool to lock in place. It seems like the way it's cut isn't deep enough to go past the phaser and past the tool to lock in place.

What years have you worked on?

Just got off the phone with comp cams and they said one of the differences between the two is the tool.

One 2008 which required the newer Phaser as per tsp, then 5 from 2010 to 2018. I assume you have a bench vise? It's a bit of a fiddle f'ck. Have you watched the online videos?

Yep I have a bench vise but was having bad luck getting the lock to not pop out when I release my tension from the wrench.

I watched a couple of videos and the locks seem to sit right in place with know issue.

I will try it again tomorrow and hope for the best.
