E-fans: Why? What's the difference?

Sorry, this is probably a dumb question, but what advantage do e-fans give you?

Only reason I'm asking is I'm having stalling issues with my truck and every time the A/C kicks on and I'm idling it drops the RPM's to about 300 or actually stalls it, which is not useful in the summer....lol.

Are they hard/expensive to get done?

I know absolutely nothing about them.

I'm just trying to figure out what advantage they have over normal fans....lol.

They don't rob power off the motor.. The standard fan kicks in and its another thing that has to be mechanically turned. E-fans don't rob the HP.

Regardless, sounds like you have another issue - and the E-fans would be a band-aid for your problem.. my 2 cents.

It could be the clutch in the compressor going out. Try removing the ac belt and see if it still stalls on you. If it doesn't stall with the belt off then you know the culprit is the compressor.

Ive had my OEM silvy e-fans for quite awhile now, n noticed slight mpg gain n hp gain. But I live in AZ n the biggest improvement ive seen is the cooling factor! A/C stays very cold at idle or stopping. Huge improvment over clutch fan. Highly suggest switching to e-fans IMO, worth every penny, very easy to do yourself

how did you wire ours up? i am going monday to get my tune and buy a harness and pulley from justin. but i dont know what the pulley will do for me? i know i can make the harness as its just 3 relays, but i need a wiring schematic

The most notable argument for efans IMO, is that efans will spin at the same speed, regardless of engine speed. The belt driven fans don't move much air at idle, whereas efans move at full speed no matter what is going on with the engine.

I found mine on Ebay from a salvage yard last year for $150 shipped and that was for an OEM one!! Anything $200 and under is a great price for them!
