Factory cats are "high-flow". Aftermarket ones are just a little shorter and typically have weaker catalyst. Cats are very effective mufflers, though.

Well... If the 18" isn't loud enough, they have a 14" version- the XS1229. It's the Magnaflow 14419 clone. $42 at Summit but might be cheaper at $47.65 at Amazon if you have Prime (free shipping).

Otherwise, you could switch to a chambered and/or baffled muffler. But, then you're risking having drone.

I’d start here if I were you. Shorter muffler will increase the volume for sure. And it’s cheap enough to try to see if it makes it loud enough for you.

I’m in California, I’m pretty sure it’s best to not touch the cats. Even the third could yield a bad test from a visual stand point.

Is that actually a third cat or is it a resonator? If it's a cat that isn't monitored (no O2 sensor after it), hollow it out and slip a pipe through it.

You think a shop will do this for me on the third cat? I was thinking about that, they fit it and stick a pipe through and bolt it back in and the smog ppl will never know, right ? Isn’t that cheating lol

A legit shop in CA? I highly doubt it. That's an emissions item and they'll heavily enforce punishments. You'd have to find someone with a private shop/garage or, like I did years ago, have an employee at a legit shop do it after hours. Or maybe a speed/racing shop would do it? It's super simple work- cut out the cat, hollow out the catalyst (save it for recycling?), slip the pipe through, weld it back in. If it's not monitored with an O2 sensor, the computer will never know. To the smog nazis, the non-factory welds would just make it look like you were being an environmentally responsible subordinate and had a new cat installed.

So I narrowed down my choices, magnaflow 14419 or cherrybomb m80 black.

I’ve searched YouTube for 2018 or equivalent chevy with 5.3 and those choice of pipes with not many videos.

what about a Borla? the mangaflow's sound like crap at WOT at least on a 6.2

Very nice! We’ll see how the AP1229 does, if it doesn’t cut it for me than I’ll consider something else. My dad has the Texas Edition Silverado, I think it’s a 2016 so should be the same motor as my 18 hoe.
He has duels and borla and it isn’t all that loud. My truck is louder than his especially at WOT. He said not to get the borla due to drone in his cab so I could imagine the drone in the hoe
