would it not set a code?

also want to add could it not be your timing chain is getting worn out?

I have no codes...ever. The "check engine" has never come on. I don't think it is burned out because it comes on when I turn the ignition on.

Checked the timing a couple month ago when I was trying to fix these problems.

Just start up your truck and point your timing light at your injectors, both should be spraying out a nice cone of fuel.

Also..check your coolant temp sensor and check the wiring for it. Make sure it has not been damaged.

check/clean MAF sensor, change fuel filter if it hasn't been done recently (sounds almost like you have to force gas through the filter to get it to run correctly), & last but not least (and probably the problem) check the fuel pump.

LMAO TBI does not have a MAF! It uses a MAP sensor. And he mentioned that he just changed the fuel filter.

If it were carbureted, I'd say after changing the fuel filter, lighten up the springs on the secondaries on your carb. Lol. I've got little/no experience with TBI though, so I can't tell you what to do to make the same effect.
