Wife and I were en route to a school meeting this morning at 0815. I saw the squad car and watched him look at us as we drove by, he pull out, sped up and lit us up. I knew we weren't speeding, so I turned off the 35mph road and stopped.

He very cautiously approached and kept a safe distance, hand on his sidearm and asked me about my windshield tint, telling me it must be above the A1 line and then pulled the meter out to check the driver's window (11%) and the driver's rear window (2%).

He took my license and registration back to his car to run his report and returned with 3 copies of my citation.

RESTRICTION FOR WINDOW BEHND DRV / Rear Side Window @ .02% Must Remove
Section 316.2954-1

Tint darkness for SUV and vans:
Windshield: Non-reflective tint is allowed above the manufacturer's AS-1 line.
Front Side windows: Must allow more than 28% of light in. Back Side windows: Must allow more than 6% of light in. Rear Window: Must allow more than 6% of light in.

I had asked the wife numerous times to get the note from the dermatologist for this reason. So she called today and I'm hoping that the doctor will take care of this request for both trucks, so that this doesn't present an issue down the track.

So many shit boxes and ****** drivers on the road and he hits me for tint in the cleanest Suburban on the road. Grrr....at least he was nice about it, but seriously?

I’m surprised fla has rules regarding tint on the rear windows. In pa we can go as dark as we want on the rear windows but you aren’t allowed on the front two windows and the windshield

End of the month they pick it up. The motorcycles and mounted patrols have also been up for spring break. But I was well away from the beach.

Was this a BSO,Fort Lauderdale or FHP Leo? Since the new Police Chief took over Broward Sheriff I have seen BSO give out more tickets. They even have some unmarked low profile new dark green Tahoe's now.

FHP was writing a bunch of tickets on the Turnpike yesterday near the Pompano Service Plaza. I am surprised to see that as they are always understaffed and constantly working accidents. Also see them writing tickets occasionally on surface streets.

Was thinking of making my windows darker but going to put that on hold.

I would love to be a Leo for day in Miami-Dade or Broward County. I would have my quota done way before lunch because of the way people drive down here in the jungle. I pray every time I get on I-95.

Free money and easy pickings since you are a law abiding citizen. My mother has this waiver because of her eyes and I need to get it for mine. They are getting sensitive to sunlight with the onset of cataracts and my doctor wants me to wear sunglasses all the time to protect them from UV rays and brightness.
