Free money and easy pickings since you are a law abiding citizen. My mother has this waiver because of her eyes and I need to get it for mine. They are getting sensitive to sunlight with the onset of cataracts and my doctor wants me to wear sunglasses all the time to protect them from UV rays and brightness.

I too have a prescription for window tint.

As a matter of fact it was a local county mounty that suggested I get the prescription... lol

I was also unaware of any restrictions for tint on any of the rear windows.

If I got wrote for a rear window tint ticket I would have to take that to court and argue that cargo vans shouldn't be allowed on the road or they should at least have to cut holes in them and install windows.... total BS.

That sucks foss, i went back and forth with going below the as1 in the new truck.... i just dont want the hassle and don’t need wifey getting yanked but i wish I could have tinted the whole thing.

I am really shocked Florida has those laws, i do understand the whole thing but you figure dmv/le would tell you guys if you ever get pulled over drop both front windows and put hands on the steering wheel. Thats what i do up here anyway...

I think NYC has that law about cargo vans with windows.

Not surprising.... Commiefornia probably does too.... they probably passed a law that says you must have windows and then charge TAX on how many windows you have... lol

Gotta make dat money!!!

We have tint laws in OK but they don’t enforce them unless they need a reason to pull you over. I left the front alone in my wife’s Suburban. Driving my old truck I had been pulled over 3 times for the for my tint being over the as1 line.

So then I tinted the front windshield entirely to not have the dramatic affect of black and clear with the tint strip.

You should be good to go, the waiver even covers the windshield and all the rear windows. You can also get a Private Investigator's license.

So not having an issue with the tint before and getting pulled over only for tint and no other reason, motivated me to get this sorted out properly should it happen again.

I have seen here on TYF about doctor's notes, waivers, etc...but did not actually see what was needed or really how to go about it. Not in detail rather, and I did not ask, so I figured I would attach some info here for other to see FYI.

Florida
APPLICATION FOR SUNSCREENING MEDICAL EXEMPTION
HSMV 83390 (06/15)
https://www.flhsmv.gov/pdf/forms/83390.pdf

State Tint Waivers/Laws Info
https://www.tinting-laws.com/medical-exemptions/

I filled out the form and my wife is taking it to the Dermatologists office to get it signed. I will then send it off to have it officially on file and then keep the waiver in both of the trucks should we have an issue down the track.

The fee is $6.25 for EACH vehicle.
