Man with gm and all ther bs I tried the dodge thing and it was not a good experience. They just rattle apart on the inside within 30k miles. Also had a few major repairs like the transfer case, three times. Uconnect issues/electrical issues that never really got fixed and cab noise issues, which i was just supposed to deal with lol. It was a 2015 bighorn hemi. Maybe the new ones are better but that thing was in the shop way too much. Plus parts were always back ordered and chrysler corp doesn't do arbitration!! I ended up having to sell it because they wouldn't lemon law it. I feel bad for whoever ended w that truck.

For every story like this, there is another just like it about gm. I have 2 4th gen rams, my 2013 1500 has 90,000mi now, and is way tighter still than my new Denali xl. The interior quality is not even close imo, and with the new redesign is getting further away. I was a lifelong gm faithfull, and it was hard for me to consider anything else, but once I bought a ram, no more. The only reason I have a rattling gm now is my durango (also excellent) was too small (4th kid). If ram makes a full size suv, gm better get its shit together quik. Other people like me, are soon going to figure out that gm is getting further and further behind, the new silverado a big indicator of that. Fca has made a habit of actually listening to their customers, as some of my small complaints from the surveys are all fixed on the new rams. My complaints on the gm surveys, have gone unanswered, and not small issues either, nor only my complaints, since 2005!

When I rented a Tahoe for the first time around 2015 I noticed the offset seating position. Not knowing that was a real thing I thought either A) I’m going crazy B) it just this one truck had the seat bolted in incorrectly.

I even talked to my friends about it and they were like “why would the seat not line up with the steering wheel/instrument cluster. You’re crazy dude”.

Once you notice it, it’ll be all you ever see

My 2015 has not been a good truck by any stretch.... front end suspension parts, new plastic for windows because they were coming loose, transmission replacement, AC repaired..... Never had such a ***** truck. I normally buy ford products but I’m not buying anything with a V6, so maybe I’ll do a 150 with a 5.0. Ford should put a V8 back in Expedition. Fiat Chrysler I won’t even consider after reading all the horror stories about their new tranny and electrical gremlins. I got in a RAM to test once and couldn’t stand to even be in it, the door panels were too thin, hated the dial selector, and the interior was awful, couldn’t wait to get out. GM has the most comfortable pleasant interior, I give ford the most utilized and useable interior. But for reliability, ford over GM by a long shot after this truck lol. They all have issues, just got to keep them fixed. I both love and hate this Denali.

The plastic window trim thing is laughable. It probably shouldn't happen to begin with, but it's a $4.50 permanent fix anyone can perform without tools in their garage (stick a piece of HD double stick in there).

If you have a problem like that out of warranty in a Mercedes, it'll run you $750 per window.

I have driven many makes and models. None are exempt from the laws of thermodynamics.

All require maintenance. As everything man made falls apart eventually. The implementation of perma-lube bearings suggest to some, they last forever. I call this wishful thinking.

We are seeing more and more vehicles on the road that are so improperly maintained, brake lights, head lights bumpers missing or falling off. Its rediculous. And a threat to public highways.


I really like the looks of the newer GM Denali and Sierra. But Im reading alot of complaints about the body and interior parts failing.

I wouldnt mind having a duramax alison combo in a nice 3/4 t. But the price along with the interior issues prevent me from om actially considering one.

Don't get me wrong, there is alot of things in the newer trucks gm gets right, its not a total fail. The duramax/allison combo is one of those (I have had 3). The 6.2 is another (once it has a catch can). Mechanically, they still make a reliable vehicle, but so does most everyone else, with tighter build quality, more features, and better quality of materials. I don't hate gm, they have really never done me wrong, they just need to spend the money to bring some things up to their competitors specs, or they will start losing more and more market share, as people become less brand loyal/ want more bang for their buck

I might have missed it (didn't read all 15 pages), but has anyone heard anything, rumor mill or otherwise, about GM putting their 3.0 I6 diesel in the next gen Tahoe/Suburban? This engine was announced for the 19 Silverado/Sierra, specs haven't been released yet but it's expected to be competitive with or better than Ford's 3.0 PowerStroke, which has great torque.

I've never bought a new vehicle in my life, but if the 2021 Suburban has good styling, good options, and a diesel, I'd have a hard time resisting.

I doubt it. The diesel market is small and not growing in the US; it would be hard for me to envision GM spending any money to get that engine certified for the Tahoe/Yukon platform (which I think would be a separate certification than the pickups) for what would be a tiny market.

But if they did, I would probably buy one.
