It got a pretty substantial refresh for 2016 and it definitely feels newer than my 18 premier did. But its a Toyota so its always going to be a little behind in some ways. I am enjoying the refinement and build quality. Worth every penny for me at this point.

That mid cycle refresh 4 years ago was on a vehicle that was last redesigned over 12 years ago. It feels newer than your premier because that’s a design that came out over 6 years ago and wasn’t refreshed. They are both dated. Either way, all that matters is that you like it.

I believe there is a full redesign coming for 2021 model year?

Everything on the market is old. MDX, Grand Cherokee, GX, LX, Sequoia, 4Runner, QX80, Pathfinder, even the Range Rovers are getting long in the tooth. Yet the GM suvs feel just as old. Didn't help that I was continously having issues with mine and I couldn't take the Mexican haywagon ride anymore. A new LX for 2021 or 2022, idk I have read conflicting things. I only keep a vehicle for 6-36 months so I'm not worried about a redesign.

Lol. I hear you on the ride. New rovers and lx come out this year and expy/Navigator are “only” 3 years old but you’re right, there isn’t anything that’s “new” except for the MB GL (which is pretty awesome) The sequoia/land cruiser/LX are just really ready for a redesign.

The next 3 years are going to be REALLY interesting for new suvs IMO especially with the new Jeep wagoneer entering the mix.

The Toyota Sequoia platform is so old it could vote....by absentee ballot.....

True story: My brother was driving a friends Sequoia from Naples to Detroit for him in 17' and I was following in a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer- w/ 177k miles. I got 18 mpg with the Chevy and the Toyota got 15 mpg.....

Haha yeah the Toyotas get really bad mpg. This 2020 LX window sticker says 12 city / 16 highway.

I thought it was weird the new GM's got knocked down 3 mpg because they are "bigger" according to a spokesperson but I'm like damn can't they deactivate like 6 or 7 cylinders now and have start/stop

The Nissans (Armada & QX56/80) are gas hogs too. We averaged 15ish over 140K miles in our QX56. In a larger ESV, we're getting almost 19 MPG (18.8) over nearly 40K miles.

Best competitor to GM large SUV’s is Ford Expedition. They show good mpg but since they got 6 cylinders engine with turbos.

They get 17/23. My 2018 suburban was 16/23. The 6 cylinders don't help them at all and they're only besting the burbs city because they have start/stop. So really the new GMs dropping 3 mpg is really disappointing. But only real world testing will tell i guess.
