I like to use cruise control whenever possible, going back and forth to work, forget it! there's 3 lanes on the highway, left lane is 90+mph, middle lane has someone going 55-75 mph, and right lane is full of semi-trucks. It's hard to keep the cruise set at those times of day.

I know what you mean, I wish i had the adaptive cruse control like my wife's Subaru, you come up on slower traffic and it slows you down and then speeds back up when the traffic in front clears or moves faster, I'm sure the newer Tahoe's have it, ha

I know there a lot of Pro-Diesel truck owners on here...figured I'd throw my 2 cents on gas prices by me today (NY tri-state). Regular non-premium was $4.09 a gallon most places. Diesel was over a dollar more at $5.20

Diesel remains the most expensive over here in the PNW but that added fuel mileage probably more than makes up for the added expense. That said we have been holding steady at 17.5 mpg average from our 5.3 and couldn’t be happier. I have multiple vehicles that do worse, and still get driven even with inflated gas prices

Didn’t you say you wouldn’t buy this car if it didn’t come with 6.2L engine and you already spent like $10k in after marker wheels and also detailing your brand new car with some sort of wrap and tints?

Why would high gas prices ever make you second guess yourself lol
I didn't hear back from the 3M guy (wrap/tint shop), so I might pass on that idea. As for the wheels, I am going full steam ahead. I spoke to Custom Offsets earlier today, and he reassured me my rim size will fit... with a very lite NorCal mod.

i fig'd, at 18k miles per year, my 5.3 at 17.5 avg vs. the diesel (which I am getting in a few weeks) ~24.5 avg, well, that's an 8 mpg difference (we do a lot of highway miles, I am expecting the diesel to do better as an average than that, based on the anecdotal evidence posted here and other places). That is 300 gallons extra per year for the 5.3. Which, at todays prices, is 1200 bucks. If I end up paying an extra ~$1/gal for the diesel, I am still ahead by ~$500.

A few months back, diesel was 0.3 cheaper than premium, right in the middle of regular and premium. Ay times (like a year or so ago) it has been 0.1-0.2 cheaper than regular (PNW). I am hopeful it will move back in that direction, but even if t doesn't still seems like a good decision. Nonetheless, I am shocked about how high diesel has popped in a few weeks.

And while I did move to the diesel partly for the mileage, I also went for the engine. Both sides lifters replaced (along with multiple other problems with this vehicle), I thought a change was for the best. That said, the mileage I have been getting n the 5.3 has been pretty good - way better than my old Pathfinder, and almost as good as the old Odyssey.

I stopped at a nearby GMC dealer the other day because I saw they had a new At4 pick up on the lot. I looked it over because I am interested in one in the future, it was a HD 2500 and the window sticker said it had a 6.6L gas engine. After going by a few times I saw it was still there, I was wondering if someone backed out of the order because of fuel costs for that thing.

I would wait until the 2024 GM HD pickups. They are supposed to be revised with a much better interior.

My dealer gave me this 5.3 as a loaner as they try to fix the “service restraint system” issue again. Have had it 3-4 days. Can literally watch the fuel gage recede every trip. It’s a decent vehicle and not complaining for a loaner, but in daily traffic it swills fuel. It’s amazing how spartan this vehicle feels compared to the Denali. Without the Dmax, prob would not own this vehicle….

I filled the tanks on 3 vehicles 10 days ago…audi is still full, Silverado at 3/4 tank and Yukon at 1/4 tank so I think that means I don’t drive very much? I’m the only one that drives the Audi and Silverado but my wife and I both drive the Yukon for nearly all of our errands, usually short trips to town and back
